Ali - if you reckon you can swim for miles or 24 hours would you be able to swim the channel??

Now that would be a feat and I'd guess one hell of a money raiser!
I did that in a pool a few years ago - took me 4 weeks of lunchtimes and it was boring as hell but I did it!

Go ali.

Weird thing this fund raising. I stayed at the Heathrow Travelodge last night and by the time I checked in they were towards the end of a MacMillan Cancer Charity fund raising day. The hotel is huge by Travelodge standards; there were posters everywhere, donation buckets, buy a pancake tables and staff all wearing MacMillan tee shirts. I had two drinks at the bar and put my change in the bucket on the bar both times. The second time I did it I asked how the fund raising had gone.

"About eighty pounds."

£80? More than four quid of that I'd put in. What is up with people?

All day and they'd raised £80?

Jeez. That sounds like hard work. As it goes I contribute to MacMillan monthly but I'll chip in a bit more this month.

My wife swam / swum? a mile of the Thames last year for charity.
It was an organised event, which is done every year.
She had to have a range of injections for various diseases, she also had to wear a wet suit and hat.
She was not allowed to do it unless she complied with these rules.
I would have a word with your doctor, if you plan on swimming the Tay

Thank you for all your help, the decision is made, it will be a head shave after my hair is cut off, on the anniversary of Mum's death in November.

Unfortunately my swimming coach doesn't think I'll be able to regain my levels of fitness to attempt any major challenge in suitable weather this year - which is a shame, but my own fault & gives me a goal for next year biggrin

My JustGiving page (linked on the OP) has been updated & I'm at 10% of my target already thumbup

Pledges to colour my shaved head will be accepted & carried out smile

Yes - BUT it will have to be a short mohican after the shave & some of it has grown back.

As I've already been sponsored £100's to shave it all off biggrin

I'll match this. biggrin

I'll donate to the head shaving, either way, as well.

Ok, how about if I have the Mohican without the sides being shaved?

Eg this, in pink?

I can't shave the sides as I want to donate the hair for wigs, but it can be dyed I think
