My misses and I decided to check out Sevenoaks yesterday - a nice town on a pleasant sunny day.

We drove through the town and did the usual and looked for somewhere to park. My misses, not being the most confident of drivers prefers to park in quiet residential areas away from the hustle and bustle, so we decide to turn in and find a really nice quiet residential street (Soleoak drive if your interested) within 10 minute walking distance back into town.

We pull up, check any parking restrictions (no parking Mon-Fri) and being a Saturday all is fine. We parked behind the one and only car on the street.

Wow. What a dole story...now for the juicy part.

We start walking away from the car when suddenly I hear a voice so I turn to see some 60 year old bloke standing next to our car - he must have run out his house.

Him: excuse me but can you park your sodding car somewhere else?

I look at it, all seems fine and not in the way of anyone's drive or even window view.

Me: erm why?

Him: cos you need to be more considerate about the people who live here. We get fed up with your type just parking up in this street. Why don't you park somewhere else?

Me: I'm sorry, the sign says no parking Monday to Friday, it's a Saturday and I'm not doing anything wrong. What's your problem?

Him: I get fed up with people like you parking up here. There's other places to go, so do the decent thing and move your car - NOW!

I'm getting slightly pcensoredd off with this guy now.

Me: er, I don't see why I should move. We've quietly parked up, behind this other car and for some reason you think you own this street and expect me to move. No!

Him: just be considerate. The people who live here don't want you or your car (my misses fiesta btw) here. You can see my point?

Me: no I really don't. I don't get what I've apparently done wrong or why I should have to move. You don't own the street, I'm not blocking anyone - we've turned up quietly and for all you know we could be visiting relatives.

Him: I don't want you or your car on our street. You don't live here, you have no right to be here so go on your way and park somewhere else. Park on the main road or something, I don't care; just not here. You turn up as you like, go shopping and use our road like its a car park.

Me: IVE DONE NOTHING WRONG! It's not a private road, the signs say I can park here and you've decided to come marching out your house giving us grief since we've parked up perfectly fine and not causing any problems for anyone. So no, I don't see your problem and yes I am being considerate.

We now start walking off, even though this censored is leaning on our car like he owns it.

Me: can you get off our car please! It's not yours!

Him: JUST MOVE YOUR SODDING CAR OFF OUR STREET! NOW!!!

I decided to walk off, but my misses wants to move the car incase he keys it; I say no out of principle but it's her car so after walking to the next road we find a space and I return to her car to re-park it...

...only to see the old git driving in his car past me down the same road holding his middle finger up at me. What a tcensoredr.

I moved the car and got on with life. So...if you want somewhere to park in Sevenoaks feel free to use Soleoak Drive on a Saturday and prepare for battle. They apparently don't like common folk in these parts.

What a complete wcensoredr

Would be great if a load of PHers could turn up and legally park there. I still can't believe how blatantly rude he was towards us as if he owned the whole street. I wouldn't mind, but it's a mk7 bog standard fiesta - not even a loud, modded or battered car - even if it was, what's it got to do with him?

So, if anyone has a particularly loud annoying car please feel free to start a PH meet there.

I can understand why the OP's gf wanted to move the car.

The feeling of victory would be rather soured by the car being keyed.

By that time I'd have been recording on my phone. He'd eventually go back to his house so you'd know where he lived.

The shame of if it that a) it's easier to capitulate rather than risk malicious damage but b) the idiot will now think he's 'won' and will continue to act like a , despite being very much in the wrong.

The guys attitude does in deed stink, but I think I would of let him win as well. A car is an expensive thing to put right if he had of damaged it and the police wouldn't of been able to do anything as just circumstantial evidence not proof.

Hope a ph meet could be arranged, or check out the revenge thread for completely unrelated thoughts.

Wow, what a prick, I would have moved my car as if he was being that aggressive then key scratches or poked tyres are possible.
PH meet sounds like a good idea, also anyone nearby who has some flytipping to do? lol shouldnt mark the whole street down just because of one prick tho as thats not cool.

I had to park my car on an adjacent street a few weeks ago and some old mare put a 'penalty-notice' card on my car asking me to not park there anymore, it was so cute! made to look like it was serious with yellow card and cling film to keep the rain off! I found it hilarious and keep it as a memento now, especially as I had actually got permission from the house that I parked in front of at the time to be polite.

Meh, OP the guy had issues if parking gets him all flustered then he isnt winning at life.

Who else has had a look at Soleoak Drive on Google maps? I reckon our protagonist lives in one of the older properties at the beginning of the Drive. Whilst I think he was a bit out of order ranting and raving, I would be a little bit ticked off if people were constantly parking at the bottom of my drive.

I would have got my phone out and taken pictures of the car with him next to it just in case he decided on damage, then carried on as normal.

I like the idea of a meet up.

Yes read that, but it is a cul-de-sac and maybe this guy chose to live for some peace and quiet away from passing traffic.
I'm beginning to feel like Henry Fonda in 'Twelve Angry Men'..........

Firstly, Fonda had some good points so you are way off the mark there.

Secondly, People are not constantly parking there as it's illegal Monday to Friday.
