You do have to be concerned that she thought this was a sensible way to get her phone. I am pleased there was no accident this was a bad idea and I can understand the ES making the point about the huge risks given the location in the road. I have always had a pathogical fear of dropping car keys in a drain and I did eventually and a short taxi ride home and back got me away with spare keys. Easily done but retrieval is certainly not easy and generally unless the item is genuinely valuable (ring?) not worth the effort.

Didn't have any audio, but does it explain why she went in feet first? Wouldn't be my first move, I'm much better at grabbing things with my hands.

How do they manage, girl in our office yesterday was attacking a Blackberry (Phone), with some scissors and getting all ratty, wanted the battery but couldn't open it, hence the health and safety moment, she asked me if I could get the back off, I pressed down and slid it down and off it pops, she had been ranting at it for some ten minutes and stopped when she nearly stabbed herself.

I think its an age thing but there is some scary dimness.
