I was a yuppie in the 90's, complete with Navy Blue Dax Blazer, Panama hat, and beige Chinos. The drink of choice was Passion fruit juice with Vodka.

What a massive bellend biggrin

It is quite hard to sum up a decade that began when I was single digits in age, and ended when I was at University! All my growing up was done, my musical taste formed through a journey from early 90s dance to britpop in '94 onwards.

Radio 1 Roadshows (early 90s), gig going (late 90s)

Massive music influence, too many to mention! Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation, Oasis, RATM, Nirvana, Radiohead, The Bluetones, Supergrass, Mansun... scouring the music shops each week buying CD singles (and albums)

Super Mario Kart, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy 7, Destruction Derby

The Simpsons (early 90s), South Park (late 90s)
MTV, Beavis & Butthead
Bottom, Reeves & Mortimer, Fist of Fun
Red Dwarf, Father Ted

Panini football stickers
Curtain haircuts
Dial up internet and running up large phone bill!

Jaguar XJ220
Peugeot 306 GTI-6

I was only listening to Mansun CD's the other day! Saw them years ago as a support act (can't remember who the main act was now!!) loved their stuff straight away. They had a few hits shortly after that, another cd I played...a lot!!

The Amiga 500+ with games loading from various disks
BMX with my mates around the local area, building jumps and squashing cans on the back tyre to make it sound like a motorbike.
Cartoons, lots and lots of cartoons.. Jase and the Wheeled Warriors, TMNT, The Raccoons to name but a few
My sisters 2CV which ended up getting written off.
Drinking Olde English cider and then being sick from it (put me off cider for years)
WWF (the wrestling not the wildlife fund) it was amazing back then
Going down to Gosport to see Nan/Grandad and taking the boat across to Isle of Wight
Spending many many summer holidays in France with my family

The 90s was pretty much one massive party, and mostly as a decade was all on the up!

First half of the decade queuing up to get into City Bars (Minsters and Minories) @ 5:30 on a Thursday night; getting smashed on Sol, then the vomit comet & a munter home. Finished it working & living in Tokyo, all night drinking in Roppongi or Leo's (Leo Sayer = "all dayers") in Shibuya. Taxi & stunner home (a bit so/so on the kawaii girls). Weekends in Hong Kong to recycle visa. Ayia Napa for lads holidays, but by then the music was on the wane (UK Garage scene really does have a lot to answer for though).

As a decade it gave us proper Jungle / Drum and Bass (Metalheadz, AWOL as club nights and Logical Progression as an album). Hip Hop got better (Wu Tang Clan and Dr Dre's The Chronic in particular), but by 1999 the Uzi and Mack10s had been replaced with Crystal and bizhatches (not for the better in my mind) and over here we got UK Garage; which properly sucked.

Cars went from Beetle (died due to rust), Renault 19 16v (died into warehouse, sideways in a cloud of tyre smoke), Orion with RS Turbo lump and running gear (got nicked, probably used as an organ donor for someone else's Max Power fantasy), Vitara with 10inch wide wheels & Phoenix Gold ICE install (what was I thinking, buried it into someone's Fiesta), Clio Williams (big speed, got banned), finished up with a saucy Fiesta RS1800 (hardly used as in Asia).

It gave us the Nike Air Jordan V, and all other trainers have been sh*te since; and disappointingly the death of the leather tracksuit (although on reflection maybe not such a bad thing). Shoes could only come from Patrick Cox, and you could wear a Versace shirt and suit to a provincial nightclub (possibly murdered in a Range Rover on the way home if you fit the PH stereotype though). Nightclubs had proper names TOTS (Talk of the South, genius); and getting in was a proper whimsical gauntlet. Men and women alike smelled of John Paul Gautier (well they did in Essex).

Its making me a bit misty. If I could go back on a holiday to the 90's I would in a heartbeat.

The 90's was a great decade for me. I turned 21 in June 1990.

At the start I would have just been going to Knightsbridge to do the Mounted Cavalry training and spent the summer there - not a bad posting to the centre of London smile. Later was posted to Germany and was lucky enough to have the opportunity of getting qualified as a ski instructor, both Nordic and Alpine, spending 4 seasons teaching military types to ski and survive in the Arctic/Alps. There were a number of operations thrown in for good measure to make sure my 'green' skills got used.

After 6 years service I left and managed to blag a job at Renault London selling motors. Happened upon an ad in Q magazine for a guitarist, did the audition, and about 9 months and 6 gigs later we got a record deal smile and spent the next 4ish years doing what rock bands do. While world domination eluded us, we had a modicum of success, I had an absolute blast and did some awesome things with some great people.

The band folded at the beginning of 1999 and I finally made my way to some sort of normality aged 30.

Now that is nostalgic, I think Thomas The Tank Engine would have been one of the first games I played!
