What's the contraption in the water??
When submerged it's an underwater wind generator.

Not a million miles off actually?

Seems to be a marine current generator.

Every day is a school day!!

I've surfed most if my life, dived, swam
across beaches and so on but yet to experience underwater wind!

I think it's generally called a "current."

I was being a bit silly you know. It generates electricity from the movement of water, as in tidal movements/bores. I would have thought it was pretty obvious there is no wind underwater, hence my comment.

Anyway more to the point, what's it like swimming across those beaches? The sand must play havoc with the nether regions wink

Monticello dam overflow. 22m dai. 86m deep. A swimmer was once sucked down it and died. eek

The other is a device called the SeaGen. It's a tidal electrical generator. Very similar to a wind turbine, just for water. The turbines are lowered into the water so are completely submerged when in operation.

I know; a double daft bluff. TBH they rarely work.

Yep, sand in the pants, chaffing of the limbs. Occasional rescue from marine stranding people.

That swimmer story above makes me REALLY hate that device; arrrggghhhh!

You haven't dived near me then. Usually I'm in a drysuit so you're safe.

Errrmmm, how come?

By dive, I mean snorkel and a bit of low level free diving. And I dive off high things too sometimes.

Not sure, it's just usually how my guts react to the beer and curry the night before.

My son 23 year old, is afraid of horses, we drove past some today and he was shivering, I didn't know this, I asked if he was okay, he said it was the horses that had freaked him out and the fact I had driven by them.
He said if he sees horses on the road he either turns off or turns back.

Strange that you think you know your own kids ,I obviously don't.

'Locked-in' syndrome. The thought of only being able to blink freaks me right out. The very definition of a living nightmare. Just little things, like having an itch, or being thirsty, and having no way of communicating the fact. Awful

100% with you on that one, can't imagine anything worse than my body failing before my mind. The thing that would really get to me is having to be reliant on people to do anything for me.

that and Zombies; its going to happen, I have my ZAP ready, have you?

I used to do a lot of mountain biking in Epping forest, I'd often be out on a summer night as late as possible using the last of the light.

One night I had a puncture and happily sat there fixing it and for no reason I started feel afraid, the forest looked scary and silent I sorted the bike and rode home quickly. Since that day I don't like to be out alone in a forest.
