This is an odd one for a water lover but for me, it's man made stuff underwater.

Submerged pipes, the underneath of big boats and my worst, locks and weirs. They all PROPERLY s**t me up.

If it's natural (reefs, rocks, etc) I have no issues at all.

This picture makes me go all wobbly - the pinnacle of my fear:

I have wee panics about the kids occasionally too (we lost one at full term before we had our two healthy kids).
I dont really have any irrational fears but I know what you mean, to be honest, its a fairly rational one.

Went to the Hoover dam, that made me feel a bit weird, anythign with masses of water under high pressure, intriuged but a little nervous.

What are these holes for? Do they affect fish and wildlife? They look terrifying!

Mate and I had a day out from Vegas and went to Hoover dam. As you say real weird feeling. Standing on that viewing gallery looking down to base of dam andthinking Iit wouldn't hurt too much if jumped. Damn Wierd.

The thought of potholing leaves me cold. Just thinking about sliding down a hole that could taper off to narrower than your body is a horrible thought.
This for me is my ultimate fear. I am not claustrophobic, but there have been a few times that I have been in small tight dark spaces and then suddenly realised how trapped I am. Since then being in confined spaces totally freaks me out. You know that video on the internet of a girl getting stuck in a washing machine? First time I saw that I almost had a panic attack!

Anything with caving or potholing or similar on TV has me turning it over or heading for the other room.

I have been on fire and suffered burns to my face, arm and hand (all healed now and you would never know that I had been burnt) and that wasn't too bad really.

I hate being near the edges of things - cliffs, ledges etc etc. Besically anywhere I could easily fall off, for some reason I always have the urge to jump and I cannot trust myself. Cannot stand spiral staircases either for some reason

Going blind is something I am absolutely terrified off. People say that people who become blind get used to it, but I think I would off myself. I could cope with losing a leg (I think) but going blind terrifies me.

Plus those great big overflow holes. I would not want to be that duck.

Don't think you would get to far jumping down a spiral staircase wink

I reckon the Boat owner in Dudleyblokes last photo looked over the side of his vessel and thought fk that, hence
the full throttle escape.

Ditto. Except I think my legs will give out and I'll fall. Suspension bridges and piers too, floor to ceiling windows above the 4th floor, raised walkways and balconies with glass sides, anything where you can see the drop underneath. However I have been rock climbing and abseiling no problem.

Jesus Dudley, you got my heart thudding big time!

The ships thing is the same for me too - I remember going very close to a container ship in a small dinghy and I was terrified. And that sub pic too - if I fell off that I think I'd just have a heart attack and die.

Weirdly wrecks aren't too much of an issue.

I can't quite put my finger on it but it's always there.

An example is open water swimming - I have no issues swimming a mile or so in the sea but up a river with submerged pipes or even mooring lines (like I did last year) and I get very uneasy.

For such a water lover (surf a hell of a lot, live right by the sea, like small boats, etc, etc), it's quite bizarre! I have no problems at all ON a big ship or similar though.

Not really. Atolls and the diving around them is very serene and calming, did for a couple of years.

No issues with that as it's natural - and stunning!

My biggest fear is something happening to my kids or around them, like say a natural disaster or an act of terrorism etc and not being with them and specifically them being alone.

Here is a video of some BMXers having some fun in one!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4rFoYFlQUE

I am terrified of badgers.. I was riding home with a friend after a day at the skate park on our BMX's, it was pretty dark and we only had a rubbish light. We live in a small village in north Devon so it was all unlit single lane country roads. My friend hit something and fell off we thought it was a rock and went to move it. So the rock starting hissing and scratching at the floor and came straight at us, I have never seen someone mount a bike and take off as fast in my life! We thought we were going to be killed! So six years later I f***ing hate badgers.

Jellyfish.

Messing about in the sea in Northumberland last summer with the kids, saw a hand sized blue wobbly bd, had to get straight out.

Think it stems from a boat trip in Bulgaria a few years ago. Looking over the side of the boat, there was more jelly in the water than there was water. Can't stand them now. Odd little, passive-aggressive brainless organisms.

And not a fear, but I agree with the cotton wool balls post earlier. They set my teeth right on edge.

These things

There's nothing than bothers me...except for these.

Imagine my face when walking through Whitby in Feb, i turn around to find a crate of these bds right in front of me. Fish counters in French supermarkets are also a no go zone!

Water that is deeper than it is supposed to be, if that makes sense. For example, a weir, where the water level has risen to the point where there is no drop, but you know there should be.

That and those overflows. st a brick.
