No further dodgy events to report I am afraid, although I have got builders working on the house so its unlikely anything would occur anyway.
New panic room? Build thread?

Got builders in and can't be ar5ed to get bollards put in? Got a fancy alarm and can't be ar5ed to use it? I'm seeing a pattern here...

I do agree with your point about women being generally more clueless. I quite regularly have to point out to women (it is ALWAYS women) on the train/tube that their bag is wide open, allowing me to see their iPhone, purse, work badge, address book, whatever. And only around 50% of the time do I actually get thanks for doing this. The others I get variously called “nosy” increasing to “what? You tellin’ me you’re gonna nick my phone are ya?” rolleyes
Realistically, if a bloke wants to mug me and take my purse, phone, and keys I'd rather make it easy for him.

That's not what's happening. rolleyes

Bag dipping is entirely different to being mugged.

Whether they lift the phone from my bag, or take the whole bag, I'm not going to stop them.

I find blokes invading personal space (stretching out in the seat with their legs spread out, putting arms on the bag of seats, or God forbid, talking to me) almost as bad.

I'd stop 'warning' women if I were you; even with good intentions it would seem threatening.

Bizarre. Got bad news for you: your father talked to your mother. This communicating business makes the world go round.

I should have stated I meant randoms on public transport, because you are 'trapped' with them.

My father's not saying much now, anyway.

I find that most odd that you wouldn't want someone mentioning in passing that all of your belongings are on show as your bag is wide open.

So why have it in a bag at all? Why not just ask everyone you pass if they'd like to take your phone?

FFS, get a fking clue. Christ on a bike.

OK, now I've calmed down I can address your ridiculous viewpoint rationally.

Can you really not see how leaving a bag wide open with valuables on show is inviting the opportunist thief to help themselves?
A thief that probably wouldn't confront you to mug you, certainly not in a crowded area. Or even someone who had previously never thought of or had the opportunity to steal anything valuable.

If you zip the bag up, you're removing that opportunity, and therefore the temptation. Sure, if they're hell bent on taking something from you, then they probably will, but why make it easy for them? Zip up the bag, and they'll move on to find an easier target most of the time.

I can't believe I'm having to explain this to a grown-up.

You are in a mischievous mood this PM smile

What I am wondering is how on earth she got to that size?

You'd think when she was at the "plump stage" she would have thought "I'll stop eating everything"
