We have a lot of work and too few staff at the moment so I think I'll put in 6 hours tomorrow and maybe Sunday too.
It'd be nice to be off by lunchtime so 6am start, probably. As such I'll have to wish you all a fun evening while I take it easy!

Evening.

Had a nice day today and went along a favourite local road. Anyone else prefer driving on wet roads?

A bottle of Bordeaux bought on that way back from Le Mansas it goes. Mrs C has bleached her teeth so I may have to drink it all myself.

This, plus mention of my musical meanderings this evening are outlined in The Friday Night Drinks and Listen Thread - TFND+LT - entrusted to me by TheChampers who is away.

So far my efforts have attracted four posts; that's to say mine and three others.

paperbag

If you are drinking and listening, could you pop over and report in?

Thanks.

Don't care I just love driving in any conditions, each has it's own challenges biggrin

Compacted snow is most fun in a Series Land Rover, leave it in RWD and low speed drifting is an art form (especially with no power steering)

You can disengage four wheel drive in a Series Land Rover?

yes

You get three levers (well one is a big spring loaded button)

A Yellow lever (big button)
A Red lever (transfer case)
A black lever (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & Rev)

Red lever forward + big yellow button "up" is RWD high range (everyday road driving)

Red Lever forward + big yellow button "down" is 4WD high Range

Red lever back is low range & 4WD (no need to press the big yellow button)

Had a look at a mate's bobtail Rangie this afternoon. Looks a bit rough around the edges but when you see some of the engineering that's gone into it, pretty impressive.
The chassis is almost doubled up, most of the fittings are homemade stainless jobbies, the 4 wheel steering is a work of genius. The winch bars are solid stainless girders too. 3.1 Isuzu lump under the hood.

Could be good fun this winter.jester

You're absolutely 189% sure one of the buttons or levers isn't the diff lock?

Positive... 200% no doubt what so ever

White: hand throttle
Purple: Hand brake
Red: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & rev
Green: transfer case
Blue: 4WD selector

Didn't get permanent 4WD and differential lock until the Range Rover in the 70's and Land Rover 90 and 110 in the 80's

ETA: that is my actual Series III... the hand throttle is a hang over from when it was a diesel (it was converted to petrol before I bought it smile )
