Well today's wedding was lovely. And so was the Rolls-Royce Corniche one of the guests rocked up in. He was telling me he'd recently done a trip to the south of France in it and was "pleasantly surprised" to have got 14mpg average on the trip.

The best colour with the best interior colour and in very good order. Looking to sell it though as it doesn't get enough use.
C'est combien?

Has the Fiat hooked up with the Mob and holding him hostage? Have you checked his pigeonhole for a letters-cut-out-of-newspaper ransom note?

Fark me what a ball ache yesterday morning was.

Thought I'd fit the new wheels to the S-class. 18" Difdas, the right size and fitment for the car.

Jacked up car, removed n/s/r wheel (on the basis it was the nearest one to the garage), fitted replacement, remembering to put a smear of copaslip on the hub and wheel bolts. Should have been a case of rinse and repeat for the other three....

Wheel two (o/s/r), had a security bolt fitted, so found the special socket and removed it. Swapped wheels, job done. Went to do the o/s/f - special socket split down the side and the insert with the bolt pattern fell out. At this point it became obvious that getting to work on time wasn't going to happen. One grovelling phone call later to the supervisor secured what I thought would be more than enough time to sort the issue.

First I tried the nearest tyre fitters (in Newquay), thinking they'd have a tool for removing locking nuts. Turned out they didn't but directed me to a garage around the corner, who in turn directed me to go to Mercedes because his tools couldn't grip the bolts. Not being willing to pay main dealer prices I called a local Mercedes indie in Truro who managed to remove them, but didn't have any spares. They advised that the dealer would have some, so off I went to the dealership, who only had one in stock. So then it was off down to St. Erth (near Penzance) to a Mercedes breaker, who did have what I needed.

Got back home at 1345, just 15 mins before I'd agreed to be back at work, and the car still had two 16's on the front and two 18's on the back.

Swapped the front wheels last night after work, but all in a simple half-hour job cost me 4 hours pay, quarter of a tank of fuel, 4 wheel bolts, and I had to chase all over mid and west Cornwall in tourist season traffic.

It's going to be a long afternoon today. Sitting on the seawall, got powerboat racing on the left and the hillclimb to the right.

It's tough out there.

Land Rover also did a Discovery MPi 2litre
I was going to mention that particular gem but didn't think any other nutter would remember those.biggrin
Couldn't pull a greased stick out of a pig's arse.

I had the V8i smile (did you know that for the first year they also offered a carburettor V8? I doubt there are any left).

My mother had a Rover 800 with that 2.0 MPI engine. It was ok in that.

A local vet had an MPi Commercial Disco. He got so fed-up with it, he got J.E. to put a 5.7 Chevy V8 in it. It only got sold last year.

Could you also get a V8i commercial Discovery or was it just 2.0 and diesel?

And can we also do nostalgia here? I've been driving my sister's Corsa since Thursday - what a great little car!
It reminds me of my old Metro. I remember offering girls lifts home and trying to impress them with my 'rally driving'. And then the clutch went....

Mr Izzard was very funny last night. A veritable romp through English history via various religions and animal behaviour. There was also a nod towards Jeff Vadar, wet trays and the canteen. Being in a big tent on Southsea Common meant the Isle of Wight hovercraft could still be heard every now and again, which he seemed to, er, enjoy...

On an unrelated matter, buying two tickets and only using one is awesome. Sttrrrrrrrettttchhhh.

That could be because you don't permit emails...

PM me and I'll put you down for in the next batch. Yes, that's right, we've run out and are having more made. I still have last year's TT wheelie bins aplenty but the shot glasses are going down well.
