A Spitfire flypast and a (very fast...) hoon in a 996 Turbo (OMFG) whilst one of my lads is in front in the Atom.

Awesome. Thanks guys smile
I hope he enjoyed the ride - it was my first time out with the Sporting Bears so any feedback obviously helpful for when I do it again.

Of course, as one responsible parent to another I'd like to apologise should we have inadvertently crept over the speed limit during your lad's drive whistle
hehe

I very much enjoyed the ride thanks. Your driving was impressive however the only negative thing I have to say is that the drive wasn't long enough and you could have gone further.

I have asked my Mum to save up and buy an Atom. I really want one now even more than I did before. biggrin

Also I would have thought it might be an idea to have a spare lid for smaller passengers.

Thanks very much for your time.
Sorry it's taken a while to reply - been on hols in the new Jag smile

Regarding your feedback, Sporting Bears recommend the distance for the ride at +/- 10 miles. Unless the odometer on the Atom's as flakey as the fuel gauge we did a bit more than that but I'll pass on your comment to them & see what they say. I expect it's to allow a reasonable turnaround on all cars allowing for the fact that some are older & slower than others.

On the helmet, the only reason I had one on the day was because of the rain that was forecast (and falling when we left home). Had the forecast been for dry weather, I'd have been on shades & earplugs same as you

A Boxster Spyder just went passed. As James May said, it really does look like someone has nailed a tramp's hat on top.

Dreadful.

On the watch thread, do they really call the movement, "the engine"?

They're not being funny or ironic or anything; they actually call the movement, "the engine"? Is that right?

I've never heard that, but I have heard someone whose first language wasn't English call it the motor, but I think that's reasonable.

I would always call it movement.

Probably just a small joke, I suspect. The context suggests that to me.

It looks quite a nice movement actually.

The correct response, I suppose, would be to call the engine of your car, "The Movement."

"Here, let me just pop the bonnet and show you the movement."

Honestly, what sort of a the world are we leaving for our children?
