Surely it has to be something like Philip - PH!

Or Paul - did you like The Housemartins/Beautiful South?

Bin Felix, isn't it a name for a cat? I could see the poor kid getting crap at school for it.

Out if your choices, I'd go for William.. But even that might receive Willy jokes!

I never thought it would be so difficult. I know it's down to personal choice but I think it's time to call in for PH help! What do you guys think of these options:

William Heaton
Thomas Heaton
Luca Heaton
James Heaton
Felix Heaton

I wanted to go with Aston but it doesn't really work.
Martin Heaton?

I'm hoping someone will come up with some good reasons why I shouldn't choose one or the other. I've been staring at the list for so long trying to think of nicknames he's get at school etc. Part of me feels I'm over-thinking it, another part knows he'll be stuck with it forever.
Imagine the shame when he asks what made you call him NigelF or whatever PH decides.

Oh I simply arsked on an Internet forum.
Awful.

The correct test for a boys name is how will it sound being screamed in the throes of passion by a young lady.

Hence

"oh yes, give it to me ... Dave?" - never works

Whereas " oh god yes, do it harder Lazarus" - is a winner

I've been there, got the t-shirt and novelty key ring. We have 3 sons see...

1st time around, we decided we didn't want boring, nor did we want a name that was too topical, made up/out-there or a joke.

We chose Cassius in 2009. Cassius King seemed like a strong name and people's reaction to it bares that out.

Problem was in 2012 we had another son, we really racked our brains to try and come up with something as strong and solid so it was hard. We chose Lucian in the end - kind of like the Luca in your original list. I sometimes call him Luca or Luciano when he's being funny.

We still have our 1st choice female name in reserve, but I doubt we'll get to use it... In late 2013 we were blessed with another son. We call him Felix. Of the names in your original list it seems to have provoked the strongest thread reaction but I nothing that makes me think we did the wrong thing.

Enjoy making the choice and the reactions you get when you tell people!

Very true. Also, sure I read something about how if you give a child a 'great' name, they'll either get bullied and crumple hopelessly, in which case, they were st anyway and you can try harder with the next one, or rise above it and grow into the name.

On a similar theme, how about Evelyn? Make or break and all that. But firmly and traditionally male.
