Had a few BBQs already, although at the moment it's not looking promising.

Had a BBQ on Sunday and the weather was excellent! Been raining almost constantly since then though!

I want to buy my first bbq (only ever used disposable ones) what do people recommend, gas or charcoal? Thanks

Gas is vastly easier to use than charcoal, which is why the 'purists' pooh-pooh those of us that use it. On the flip side, you can spark it up and be cooking within a few minutes unlike the charcoal brigade who have to wait.

So the real BBQ fans use gas, so we can use it every evening wink

Things firming up for end of next week, but far from 100%. Lots of uncertainty and it may become a South only warm period with rain in northern parts.

Tried a Gas one, took forever to cook anything. Just didn't get on with it. Back to charcoal and much happier, I can properly burn stuff again now!

Yes, but it's cooked as opposed to seared and raw tongue out

Get a charcoal chimney and you're up and running in 10 - 15 minutes cool

Liberation day here in Guernsey today so enjoyed the day off in bright but very breezy weather. Front coming through tonight with heavy squally rain and strong winds.

Enjoy the sunny/warm weekend. It's only short term and Sunday/Monday sees low pressure piling in from the NW.

Some hope for a return to nice weather after that, but very early days.

A few from the weekend:

Brisket before the second side was slathered in mustard and rub -

Pork shoulder having been on for 20 hours plus pork belly ribs after 8 hours (another 2 racks on the shelf below) -

Brisket after 10 hours -

Ribs in BBQ sauce after 9 -
