How's the prognosis for Gloucestershire tomorrow?
I'm doing an Audax event on the bike 66miles of hills basically and it would be nice if it was dry and not windy! Most things I've done this year have managed to find the rainy days in-between the weeks of dry weather so not holding much hope

Stunning day here today in the Island (basically continuing the theme for September really). A quick snap of the bay before I left for work this morning and one of this evening just before sunset. Currently being treated to a wonderful lighting display to the South of the Island - I'm guessing probably just off the St Malo coastline. Really is quite stunning. Oddly not accompanied by any claps of thunder - making for quite an eery scene.
Just a quick update from the storm we had last night - it was the most amazing lightning show I've ever seen. The top image shows the track of the storm cells, apparently there was a lightning flash every 8 seconds for well over 3 hours. Barely any rain and very few claps of thunder. Very odd. The second image, and try not to sully this thread with too many photos of Jersey, but it was taken from the slipway at Le Braye - if you note the arc of light left of centre, that is in actual fact the headlights from the mail plane, waiting for clearance to land. The pic was taken at roughly 6am. The third image was taken from Guernsey's south coast only a couple of miles from where I live, I think you'll agree that both images are fantastic (even though I can't claim to have taken them!).
Rain here at Le Mans today - and we really needed it. But the temperature at 19.15 is still 20C and better is forecast for the rest of the week. Normally I winter the pool the first week in September, but it is still going with this weather and since friends are coming for a long weekend it'll stay on until next week. Not known that in the 15 years I've been here.
I think the last time I remember it being this nice so late in the year was early 1990s? Odd that the weather presenters don't seem to be mentioning an Indian Summer. Usually they witter on about it for weeks and it never happens! It was good to get some rain yesterday though, and the Boston creeper and cloud maple are positively aflame with colour!

You are joking - forgot 2011 already? October was a record breaking scorcher at times, not just an Indian summer. And November was incredibly warm too.Mr GrimNasty said:

Probably because Indian Summer is accepted to be US in origin, and somebody in the PC compliance department just realised and omitting it is easier than having weathermen describing it as "native American Summer.
