I also heard a pedantic argument on the radio that it's not an Indian summer because that is technically a warm spell occurring after the first frost. And there hasn't been a frost yet, although it nearly happened in August (wtf...)

The technical definition of an Indian summer is that it occurs after a frost, so tongue out

Here in the Sarthe the ceremonial windscreen scraping happened the 3rd week of August. So we have an official Indian summer. Although why Bradford and Leicester gave this meteorological phenomenon its name I am not sure.

I was down your way for the Moto 24h the other weekend. We were wandering around at 2am in shorts and t-shirt, it was roasting cool

Enjoy today, it is the last warm day. Well, for those of us in the SE, many other parts are already miserable!

Argh! It almost feels like a bereavement when the you realise it's the final day of the 'summer'. Roll on Spring...

Thanks f**k for that!!

I want nice cold mornings and cold evenings with chilli but bright days now.

£250k worth of winter clothes in my shop, and surprisingly the Parkas and cable knit sweaters have not been flying off the shelves these last few weeks.

Oh. Forgot that bit. I get so bored with warm, settled weather. I'll start watching the charts again soon

The swimming pool was still in use yesterday as the temperature soared to 26C. But I think the BBQ will be ceremoniously wheeled into the garage on Monday after a good clean and the pool will be wintered and pumps drained.

I don't know what it was like at 9.39am but at 11.32am it's grey and raining.
