This thread has just inspired me to put a few lucky dips on, minimum of a £10 top up online though. Buggers!

One thing I've always wondered, how do you meet someone once you've one a big wedge of cash? It'd be impossible to downplay for that long, and you'd always have the doubts as to their intention?

I vote for less people playing mainly because I haven't bothered since the entry price doubled. I have heard of others doing the same which of course makes it my opinion fact.
Me and a lot of my family stopeed the direct debit when they doubled the price. I used to have a lucky dip on a Wednesday and Saturday. I won a tenner a few times but it's torture getting an email from them saying you have won, please log in to find out how much... Oh it's just another tenner :-(

Buy a EuroMillions ticket instead? I haven't bothered with the normal lottery for months now.

£5m increase?! I bet they got more than 10x that in extra ticket sales.
Tight bds biggrin

I know it's an idiot tax but for the sake of a couple of quid to change your life forever, well worth it, even just for the imaginary list I come up with when I'm at work.
I think that's because £150m is the cap (EUR 185m IIRC). Any 'overs' spill down to the next level now for, I think, four draws, then it all goes down a tear.
Close enough. Jackpot is capped at €190 million.

And so it should be. No one needs to win €195m, that's too much for one person!

When the lotto started years ago a couple near me won 1.8 million with 5 ball and bonus ball, did not actually win the lotto..
Have not done it since they doubled up.
When it was a £1 5 of us did it (the lottery) for two years, never won a tenner,so we gave the fiver to one of our group who did a bit on the horses and at the end of 52 weeks our pot stood at nearly £1250

fk that! I'd be hiring them by the hour, all the perks with none of the downsides, plus the variety of types and looks of chicks out of my league normally would be astronomical.

Same here. Double the price but not the jackpot,...but you now win £25 instead of £10. So what? What's that extra £15 going to do for me?

I've heard a lot of people say they no longer do the Lotto after that.

IMO the Jackpot on the Euromillions should be capped a lot lower (say £25 million). For every £million the jackpot pot goes over the cap - they should throw in an extra raffle line.

With this weeks pot they could still pay out a £25 million Jackpot (a huge sum for any normal person) - and pay out another £1 million each to 100+ people.

Are you mad? A measly £25m!!! I wouldn't get out of bed for anything under £80m.

Not anymore, gets added to the second tier prize fund instead. €190 million is still a heck of a lot of money...

Isn't it just, its absurd....but would be awesome fun!

Just reading the Wiki page, its €185m now and will be capped at €190m next time. It witters on about it being possibly €200m in the UK at some point...its not all that clear!
