I won £2k last night. Pretty happy with that.

A 6th number would have got me £9m but hey, that’s why it’s called a lottery!
One number more might have got you £9m, but look on the bright side, one number less would have only got you £170. hehe
Well yes, there is that.

It's paid for our holiday next year which is nice. Means I can spend £2k of my own money on frivolity and not have to feel bad about it hehe
Man Maths at its very finest.
It worked quite well. Bought car related items and currently enjoying the holiday sunshine!!

"Set for Life"

Win £10K a month for 30 years (Or £3.6M if you had it in a lump - which I don't think you can)

Only so far, not one of the 6 draws has manage to give away the top prize. Which will inevitably start to hurt ticket sales in due course if people think it's unwinnable.

Also for reasons I cant understand it doesn't rollover. Which currently would be 60K a month for 30 years. That sort of money would make a significant impact to sales imo.

Anybody won anything with this game?
I was tempted to purchase a ticket (or two), but so far - didn't bother. Euromillions hold more appeal.

ive played paid a tenner won 5 quid, 15 million to one odds and win 3.6 million seems a bit of a con.

I can't imagine wanting to go public with a lottery win, but then I imagine the Camelot PR team can be mightily persuasive to someone who is still in a state of shock.
I’ve been mulling over the whole ‘why go public?’ question for a few weeks now, considering a few big Euromillions winners in the UK have recently done so.

Having followed the excellent Untold podcast about the murder of Daniel Morgan (from a link on another PH thread, the whole story really worthy of its own thread) I conclude that its pretty much all to do with the dark arts at play in the tabloid press. I’m fairly sure Camelot’s people have a very short conversation with you along these lines:

The tabloids have paid moles inside every bank, the DVLA and HMRC. It is impossible to keep your identity secret due to your new found wealth. Here’s loads of evidence of them doing that. Go public and break the news on your terms, let them have their pound of flesh, or they will do it on their terms regardless”

There can be no other reason.

There are far more big winners that we have no clue about. It isn’t out there. There are plenty of rich people in the uk to blend in with. 50 million barely makes you stand out in some areas.

Bit so many winners that do go public seem to be from the low end of society, perhaps it’s just them that go public.

My thinking is, by the time they're sat down at Camelot working out the finer details, the people that have won; have already told, their neighbours, best mates, family members etc. days ago that they've won the lottery, so it can't be much of a hard sell from Camelot to point out that someone that already knows will blab to the press for a quick buck, even if they think they don't know anyone like that, there will be someone, so they easily convince them to do it themselves.

No amount of spiel from Camelot could convince me to go public with a win.

I agree. Going public will appeal to a certain type of ego more than some fear of tabloid expose. I accept the tabs print a load of bks'. But "Reclusive Euromillionaire buys Ferrari and lives in 8 bedroom house worth £5M" isn't worth the hassle of being sued by said millionaire for invasion of privacy.

The last guy was recently divorced. That struck me as a "fk you" to his exes. Biggest local winner to myself was a local business man before, so well known in the area.

Look at some of the more exclusive estates in the UK. Do you know who lives there? Their net worths? These people aren't being splashed all over the tabloids.

Came on here to post the same thing, don't understand any logic in it.
You have a piece of paper worth 32.5 million and you decide to keep it in your wallet for a week.

I've started keeping my tickets for a few weeks, when I have the odd go on the euromillions, sometimes a weeks worth of thunderball, 1 line for every day, the odd lotto and religiously a few £1 lines on pick 3 on the Irish at bookies.

Then I'll check them all at the end of the month for example, I'm in no rush.

Anyone who knows thinks I'm mad.

If I won a significant amount like the chap who won 72 million the other week,I would keep quite till something like a million was won and then let family know.
That way they know i won a nice amount but would not hassle me

A million is won twice a week on the euromillions in the UK, guaranteed.

just say you won the raffle.

i think for me if i won 70 million would want to help others, a true legacy, like scholarships even a school. a few million would be enough for me.

I have the odd go... won a fiver first try on Set for life (I've got the Bentley brochure).

My ex frequently referred to 'the idiot tax', she still does.

She just texted, about her not winning from betting on the Grand National. She failed to back Tiger Woods. Tee Hee.

To be fair he is better at Golf but I'm sure she would have got great odds. Much better than the 4-1 I got on Tiger Roll hehe

So the "Set for Life" top prize (10K a month for 30 years) was finally won.

Seems that Camelot realised it was a bit marginal in terms of odds. So did a marketing gimmick called a "Super Chance" draw. So the 2 people that got matched 5 (but no bonus ball) won the top prize.

I can now bow out from playing biggrin

In other news Euromillions Superdraw of £105M on the 7th June

Was wondering about the hit on the Lottery given people aren't shopping quite as much. Obviously you CAN play online*, but there's been a pretty large drop off in sales of late.

*Website does say no new Direct Debits can be set up at the moment.

Haven’t had a go of the lotto for a while. Just have the odd lucky dip on the euro every now and again. £10k a month set for life would be good as well.

It's online only at the moment.
