right £95m up for grabs in tomorrow's Euromillions.

No idea why anyone bothers with the National lottery any more when it comes nowhere close to such dreams.
The logic, it burns.

Euro: 1 in 116,531,800
Lotto: 1 in 13,983,815

You're 10 times more likely to win the Lotto. And even then, you're 10 times more likely to die falling out of bed than winning the Lotto.

People don't can't comprehend probabilities.

See, I'm all for the massive jackpots, the impact of winning that amount would be hysterical. Oh the fun...

But given that last night, the winners of 5+1 got £138.5k which, while its not to be sniffed at, isn't great considering the odds of 1 in 6,473,989 to win the prize.

To my mind, they'd be better off giving 5+1 a guaranteed £1m or something, and cascading down a little.

Rather than start a new lotto topic. .

Does anyone here do the (or having any opinions regarding) Irish Lotto or the postcode lottery?

I have a DD set up with the national lotto but thinking of jacking it in for one of the above.

Was just a quick thought so I havent looked at either of them in any detail.

You really haven't slashed the odds, they're now 2 in 116,000,000.

You've doubled your chances though! smile

Someone was telling me ( a taxi driver in London ) that if you don't go public after winning, you get the money split yearly, until full amount is paid. Anyone know if this is bullst?
Bullst....going public gets you Camelot backing and their financial advice foc.
Bullst. Camelot are legally obliged to offer "backing" (assuming you mean support) and initial financial advice. After that you're on your own.
I heard this from a taxi driver.

I've said it before, I'm no socialist, but that amount of money is too much for one person, better to have 5 prizes of 20 million, which is still a stload of cash!

Oooh - a 100% increase in the likelihood of me winning - I like those oddslaugh

Pffft to the chap who wants 5 prizes of £20m each - why stop at that though, go ever further with 218 prizes of £500k each?

bks to that, I want all £109msmile

The point of the Euromillions is surely the ludicrous size of the jackpot?

You're ignoring the millionaire's raffle = (at least) one guaranteed £1m prize for a UK player every Euro Millions draw, so I guess the odds of that are comparatively "good": 1 in a few million?

Another shocker last night - 5 plus bonus was. £11.6k. With odds of 2.3m to 1, that's a disgrace.

Jackpot winner got £398k which for many might just clear the mortgage. IMO it's not really a lottery offering the lottery winners lifestyle any more.

5 out of 6 numbers were under 31,(most people go for family birthdays and lucky numbers that are always under 10) so 8 people shared the jackpot. Imho, people who go for mainly low numbers deserve to win a crap amount for being so damn stupid. So I couldn't care less.

I have one number under 31 and 5 over. If I win, I won't be sharing it with anyone.

Not enough of them to make a difference looking at the stats. When the jackpot numbers are mainly high, there's rarely more than 1 winner.

Did 40 people die falling out of bed last week? Genuine question.

I just got myself 5 lucky dips. Technically they didn't cost me anything as I won on some instant win thing. I actually made £3 in doing so smile
