The Last Good Deed You Did...
Discussion
I don't mind doing stuff as generally brightens up my day (so it's actually almost selfish).
The one of note was during a long drive on an ice packed freeway (last Christmas morning), a guy in front overtook a car in his F150 doing about 60 ish, but it fishtailed and his truck somersaulted over the 'central reservation' (steel wires and posts which as I saw were less barriers, and more as vehicle trip-wires) so it ended up on it's drivers side in the median with the roof caved in, I got my (screaming) wife to pull over while I ran to check on the guy who by that time was climbing out of the truck (doors are soo heavy on their side) and got him to come sit in our car while he shakily called his family on my phone to say he was going to be late for xmas - (most of the possesions were scattered in the snow (including presents)) : (
To add to his ordeal I was dressed in my rupert-the-bear pajamas (the wife's present to me that morning).
Still it wasn't a total disaster, I found his case of beer from the back of truck in the snow and it was completely undamaged.
Anyway he sent a very nice text the next day saying he couldn't thank us enough for stopping. Which was nice. (Although not unexpected - same area, a guy cut in front of us at a parking lot for a football game - when we got to the pay booth they said the guy had paid for us, and to tell us sorry for cutting in)!

I'll raise even that.....
I once pulled a 747 that was stuck in a cloud at 35,500ft with a 4x4 Fiat Panda (mark 1 Panda at that!) - and it turned out afterwards that I'd forgotten to put it in 4x4

Beat that if you can.
Had a good deed done to me today - went out for a cycle mid afternoon around Battersea park just as the heavens opened up so I parked up under a tree to avoid the worst of it and an indian chap in a suit clasping his laptop bag under his umbrella came over and shared his umbrella with me for a good 10mins till the worst of it passed.

Does giving a supermarket money off voucher to a random person with a full trolly count?
Could they use it? Or was it say 10p off a pack of toilet rolls just incase they had some and could use the voucher. Every little helps. I don't know if this is a good deed per se.
A few years ago I was working with 1 other person on the top floor of an office. One of the girls from accounts came up to sit on our sofas because she had a headache. I knew that her son was due to have open heart surgery soon (he was only 15!) and she was struggling financially. So I went over to talk to her and she mentioned that she was seeing flashing lights. I recognised that this was a migraine with an aura and I asked her what she had eaten and drunk that day. She couldn't remember the word coffee and her speech was ever so slightly slower than normal. Against her protests I called an ambulance.
Minutes later, before the ambulance had even arrived, she stood up, started screaming and her whole body tensed up and she just shook violently. Turns out it was a stroke and as is widely advertised, time between it occurring and medical care is paramount. I've always felt good about myself for going over to talk to her and see how she is, although the whole thing haunts me. She made a full recovery though.

My mum came over to my house whilst I was at work as I gave her a key. When she went she left my front door wide open yes I hit the roof. But my neighbour kindly came home from work and closed it for me leaving me a note about my front door being wide open and they hoped I hadnt been broken into but couldnt see anything missing. As a thankyou I took there 10 year old son out in the GT3 it made his day, one good deed deserves another,
Was out for a run last week, found a mobile phone on the pavement. Text the last 3 people who had been text saying that I had found the phone and asked them if they could let the owner know.
Later that night, the husband of the woman who owned the phone picked it up from me and left me a box of chocolates as a thanks!

Plugged my OBD reader into a neighbors golf which was throwing up the EML. He's pretty useless at cars, and said he paid £80 at a garage to have them read the fault, scribble something about air pressure and clear the code, which came back 10 minutes later on the way home.
Quick read with Torque and I had the code, googled what it might be and told him to get the lambdas checked (2004 2.0 tsi).
Never really spoken to him before then, he's said hello when I;ve been under our cars fixing stuff though, he must have put 2 and 2 together!

I had one done to me the other day: I was taking the dogs for a run and parked at a 'country park' place. I honestly thought it was free there, but I was wrong...
While I was struggling with the pathetic way South Hams council have set up their pay by phone system, a young lady came up to me and gave me a quid for the machine! I was genuinely touched.

Nothing major, but I'm a chinese delivery driver, delivered a chinese the other day, the bloke overpaid by £10 without realising. Got halfway back to the car before realising and knocking on the door again to let him know and return it, he gave me a £5 for my honesty so it worked out alright in the end anyway. Again not a massive thing, but there was an opportunity to get a free £10 but I didn't bother, I'd like to think if it was the other way round the same would happen to me
Came home recently and a woman approached me asking if I knew anything about cars. I said I did. She said she'd popped out with her kids and run out of fuel and that after refilling the car wouldn't start. I wandered down the road to find a Series 1 Land Rover with two little kids in it. She popped the bonnet and I immediately saw (thanks to my karting days) that there was no fuel in the fuel filter. I undid the fuel line and sucked the petrol up into the filter, getting a mouthful for my trouble. Anyway I reconnected the pipe, gave it a shake and it started! If felt like I needed my 'Man Card' upgrading! it was the first time I have ever fixed a car by the roadside. A bit later on I was having my tea and she turned up with a bottle of wine and a card signed by her kids which was nice.
However, I'd burped/breathed petrol for about 2 hrs after getting that mouthful. God knows what its like if swallowed!!

Recently I have been a bit of a nicer person:
Wished some random person Happy Birthday whilst queuing at Alton Towers
Returned a wallet to Customer Service in Uttoxeter Tescos
Found and handed in a phone at Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum
Volunteered
Feel much happier and things seem to go better (Karma?)

Reminds me of a similar story. My brother and I were driving in the mountains of Cyprus and happened upon two German girls whose hired motorbike had run out of petrol miles from anywhere. Night was beginning to fall. It was a dirt road and we hadn't passed another vehicle for miles. If we didn't help them they would be stuck on the mountain overnight. We drove to a village and begged a length of hosepipe and syphoned some fuel from our car. I'd never done it before but it is one of the most horrible things imaginable as you first get a lung-full of caustic petrol fumes, followed my a mouthful of the stuff. Ick.
Got them mobile again though.
Got something a bit better than a card from them
