Tell him he's doing it wrong smile

The whole point is the sacrifice so why should he be late?

Was reading that if you can not fast because of medical reasons you have to pay somthing like £280.
No, if you cannot fast you donate the cost of breaking a fast for the whole month to the poor/needy smile

Although £280 may well be right

IBTL and all that.

After this, I'm staying out of the thread this year but have a heroic time and don't forget to big yourselves up for moving a few columns on a spreadsheet or driving a taxi when you haven't had a bite to eat for a few hours.

It's tough out there rolleyes

Early 1980s I should think; moves forward by about 11 days every year. Will be a difficult one this year as its a fair time between sunrise and sunset, but unlike the last couple of years my new company observes the rules so I have a month of knocking off at 2 and hopefully be sailing by 3.30. Will be a tad warm, but I'll cope.. biggrin

Apologies I misread the question (I was thinking back to the last time it was in winter !!! biggrin

Last time it was in midsummer was the back end of the 70's. I remember fasting whilst doing cross country at school during that "proper hot" summer in 1976.

Anyone else fasting?
Fortunately not.

I am a grumpy sod if I don't eat so I rather think if I did that I'd be arrested pretty quickly.

As I understand it, only allowed to eat between 10:00 and 02:00. Following last food therefore, I guess unlikely to ever sleep before 03:00.
22:00 and 02:00 I assume?
Yes, sorry, 22:00 to 02:00.

My first stint in the ME (Abu Dhabi) was '82 and Ramadan was in June/July as I recall, no fun for the guys I was with in the desert but we started work at 4 a.m. and finished at midday so a result for me. biggrin

Why not eat earlier (than 2am) if it's going to make him late.
Or I trust he'll be working through his lunch hour and / or working late?

I guess because, as you can't eat again until 22:00, it makes sense to leave it as late as possible. That's what I'd do anyway.

I don't doubt he will.

Sounds like this bothers you and I can't see any reason why it should.

Announcement?

Is someone dead?

I do keep hearing these rumours etc but I'm not entirely sure who they refer too......

Only in the sense that he gets special treatment because of some fairy story.

I'm from Nottingham, so can I come in late tomorrow as I have to rob from the rich and give to the poor first?

Probably best if you ask your boss ? Lots of companies these days allow a range of working patterns (flexitime, compressed hours, annual leave, working from home). If it means a lot to you, and the company values the work you do, I'm sure they'll try to accommodate you. wink

My Uncle is in Dubai next week as part of his honeymoon. Is there anything he needs to be aware of?
