I've just got back from Bodrum in Turkey. The muezzin 'chants' (?) and huge mortar shot which alerted the town to the end of the day's fasting came each evening at around 8:45pm.
Temperatures topped 36 degrees C each day, last week. That must be really tough on the fasters. Is there no dispensation to drink water when temperatures get that high?

Engineers seem to be coping better in week 2, as for our security guy....
I swear he's smoking something in the permitted hours. Literally lost the power of speech. Mind you reception desk has no aircon so he must be seriously dehydrated.
Have to admire the dedication, no way could i manage the commute without my trusty water bottle on the tube.
Amazing how the human body can adapt to it.
Mind you that's nothing. As i said earlier i was in Egypt in 2009 when Ramadan fell in August. 40+. Tolerable, just in the cool hotel but the poor buggers working the gardens.

I don't if it the fact that I haven't spent a week in Dubai for over 3 years but the driving into work during Ramadan appears to be more crazy than ever.
Trying to move house has been very trying as the maintenance work is not being done as and I quote "it is Ramadan and it very hard to work" as told to me by the maintenance engineer.
