Chatting to another Boat owner last Friday, weather was glorious and 10cc's ' I'm not in Love ' came on the radio and he said it felt just like the Summer of 1976, to which i readily agreed.

Then when i actually thought about it...38 yrs ago..Jeez.

For a short while afterwards i just sat on the Pontoon feeling somewhat sad by just how long ago those times were.

FFS, i wanna be 13yrs old again.

Anyone else old enough to remember that crazy, hot year?

p.s. ( i know the song was out in 1975 but for me it brings back unforgettable times from '76 )

went for a long walk as an 11 year old on the Isle of Mull. Came back with a load of sheep ticks, that is one memory from the year of washing the car with bath water. The days when showers were only in nature- well in our house anyway.

I remember it well, I was 22 and took some time off from working and bummed around for a while, I had long hair and I was accused of having highlights put in but it was just sun bleached.

Lots of alcohol, some recreational drugs, lots of time on the beach, good friends. Good memories, well the bits I remember were good. biggrin

I got my first job in IT that summer. A combination of air conditioning and money seemed to match the ambitions of an ambitious mechanicsmile Never let it be said that a little preparation for an interview is a waste of time, particularly 10 key facts! Thank you IBM.

I was 5, my main memory is playing in my grandparent's garden and having my first taste of beer via my grandfather letting me have sips of his beer shandy.

Melting tar and a London bus grounded because of it.

Yep. New gf and I finished off making my Herald into a Spartan. Then we went to the lakes on holiday with it.

T'was the year I gave up work as a van driver and decided to be a full time musician. Best decision ever. That was a good year smile

i was 10. I do remember the daily walk to the shops to buy ice lollies and just how dry and cracked the grass was. Doing anything physical was very hard work in the afternoons.

Had just left school. Spent all days on the beach, and evenings working as a stagehand in a theatre in Gt. Yarmouth. Fantastic memories, particularly of staring from behind sunglasses at one of the girls in our group, whose bikini bottoms were just a little too brief as she sat cross-legged.

Natural blonde....

I was 11 too! I recall long days spent in the garden and total lack of rain.

Huh? Indeed. I was questioning your maths when I should have double checked my own.

And now you've quoted me I can't quietly delete it and pretend it never happened. redface
