So how are we all coping?
As a London commuter the tube was ridiculous. The heat was unbelievable. Must have been 40+
Office near 30 according to my desktop temperature guage, despite aircon.

Got to feel for our Muslimists. Couldn't last an hour without water. Too hot even for beer!

I am melting. Don't have aircon in my house and my laptop is most unhappy, the fan is going mad during the day..

I got in my car to come home from the office today and it was displaying a temperature of 46 degrees on startup! Admittedly, it had been parked in a sunny car park all day but I think that is a new record.

We've had a pretty poor sumner. If we are lucky, it'll be 30 degrees and sunny for three days, last year was hotter and for way longer. Stop moaning and enjoy it because it sure won't last long and it's not even particularly hot, happens every single year.

Lovely in Yorkshire. Very nice all day. Gentle breeze, 24c, and just right.

It's grim oop North.

That said, I lived in London in the 2003 heatwave. That was not fun.

I like the heat more the older I get. Today I have mowed two lawns, went for a quick 2.5 mile run, took the 7 out for an hours blat then pumped up my daughters paddling pool and filled it ready for her and a friend to play in after school. Now just chilling and hoping for a thunderstorm to hit smile

It's the nighttime were I struggle, got a fan at the end of the bed ready to keep me cool tonight smile

I cope fine, but I worry about my horses.
They have shade, water, and salt, but were a bit hot especially yesterday.

Like me, they love a good thunderstorm so fingers crossed. smile

Does that qualify for the "knob" thread or the "cringeworthy" thread or both ?

Two greyhounds, panting and moaning. Still too hot for a cool down shower. Had one after work and sweating faster than i could towel off.

The only weather you can do nowt about, cold? pull on a coat, wet pop up the brolly. though it rained so hard my brolly broke and got soaked, snow woo yay car fun time. Heat? Once you are down to your shorts nowt you can do. By a pool / see lovely. At home in the UK? Pure hell. Did ask the wife to shave my head, apparently i would look a tt bald, bit shocked i thought i was already a tt?

I've lived in a few hot places over the years. If you have young kids who aren't sleeping in the heat, here's a little trick.

Get a bath towel, dampen it lightly in cold water, and lay it over them like a blanket. The dampness will feel cool for them, then as they sleep, the water will evaporate keeping them cool for longer. A fan in the bedroom helps.

Er, am I missing something??? It's like 28-30 degrees today, it's hardly the surface of the sun.

Open a window, wear cool clothes where possible, drink plenty of water and I think you'll all survive.

I made the mistake of going to Holborn from Kew Gardens today. If I hadn't had a bottle of water with me I probably would have ended up being sick and/or passing out, and while I don't like hot weather I'm not normally that bad.

Just not going to bother venturing out of the flat this weekend, let everyone else enjoy the heat, I'll stay indoors and hope winter comes early.
