Coping with the heat?

I've lived in a few hot places over the years. If you have young kids who aren't sleeping in the heat, here's a little trick.
Get a bath towel, dampen it lightly in cold water, and lay it over them like a blanket. The dampness will feel cool for them, then as they sleep, the water will evaporate keeping them cool for longer. A fan in the bedroom helps.

Worth pointing out that a fan should never be pointed directly at the sleeping child.

I'm a Geordie so anything north of 20 Celsius to a Geordie is "hot" however I also suffer from heat intolerance, which basically means anything north of 0 Celsius is "hot", so what do you think I think of this heat?!
I am probably going to have to stop cycling to work this week as I literally cannot stand the heat, not so bad going in, but horrendous going home when the last 3 miles of the journey are all uphill, and usually against the wind. fk that.
I can't even walk a mile and a half from my car to the office without having a shower when I get there. Royal pain in the arse.
However, if I had access to a swimming pool, bar and didn't actually have to do anything productive, I'm sure I'd be as happy as Rolf Harris on sports day.

fooking hell some of you need to mtfu, its a bit uncomfortable not that bad
Just be thankful we are having good weather!
Ive spent all day in a 32 degree no air con office and have a 18 mile cycle home and its fine
My misses is 36 weeks preggers, she can cope ok
In fact even my dogs with thick fur can manage a run in the sunshine without whining !

Got back from Greece a couple of weeks ago - and the guy who drove us to the airport was saying how it had been a cool summer so far......because the temperature had barely topped 30.30 degrees is a life threatening heatwave in the UK - in Greece it's a washout
For me it's the fact that the two places I'm spending most of my time have no air-con and there's been very little breeze.
My flat is on the top floor (of 4) and we must get heat from every other flat. I don't have a thermometer but it's definitely been hotter (and stiller) inside than out. When I get up in the morning, the last thing I do before I go out is get dressed (rather than the first thing)
I realise it's not that hot, but London is really st when it's hot - unless you can just sit in a park - getting about is 10x more annoying than normal. Even walking. Public transport is hell... some buses still have heating on!

My dog with the thick fur is fine, it seems to insulate him against the heat (or he's just to daft to notice it). My dog with the short coat is the one that really suffers with the heat, he's never liked it a lot (he's nearly 11 now) and had a fit on Saturday, which was really worrying. I don't know if it was the heat for sure, but it was at the hottest point on Saturday.opieoilman said:

It's not a case of manning the fk up you tit, some people feel heat differently. I'm not sure manning the fk up will really help in my situation. You're probably one of these whiney little bhes who complains it's cold when it's 10 degrees outside. Just be thankful we are having good weather!

Too much hassle. I find it better to sedate them and go on the lash with my mates.Get a bath towel, dampen it lightly in cold water, and lay it over them like a blanket.
