This one is quite impressive for a large vapor cloud going up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPX1LywU58Y

The full video is pretty unpleasant to watch but it's the only health and safety video i've ever watched that has had a lasting effect on my attitude to safety.
Then you, sir, have never watched Staplerfahrer Klaus.
That's the forklift safety video, right?

That's a big one, not being sure how big a fire I should expect when I clicked the link, to my surprise, one hundred stories high.

It was quite harrowing though, folks are screaming, out of control.

You could see from the footage the heat was on, rising to the top.

Looking at it scientifically I think the issue was that satisfaction came in a chain reaction

The scariest bit for me is around the 1:50 mark when you see the pile of exhausted (alive) people in the door way that haven't got any energy to get further

yes
People pushing out, all for the same exit, one of them stumbles, one of them stumbles on top of them, and so on. Instead of helping them up, people start trying to crawl over them (getting away from the flame & smoke). Costs dozens their lives :/.

In other news, OP's post has direct results: The wife had just started the (diesel) mower then rang me to enquire about the fuel level in the tank (there is no level indicator). Then asked, "Shall I turn it off while filling?". Emphatic yes!

I know diesel isn't *as* flammable as petrol, but is still good practice. I'm pretty sure I would have said 'turn it off before filling' anyway, but a timely reminder. thumbup OP!

I once saw the aftermath of a retained firefighter who thought a good way to get a bonfire going better was to pour petrol down some old guttering. It didn't strike him that this wasn't wise. A very quick flashback of flame up the guttering and extensive burns followed.

31 there, according to Wikipedia.

Fire, fun but not a toy.

I remember many years ago, when I was a teenager trying to get the embers of my parents fire one morning from the night before.

Now obviously I know how dangerous petrol is, but I figured if I just sprinkled a small thimbleful on, it should be OK to get it going a bit....well there was a massive wooosh and it literally threw me backwards right over the back of the sofa....I couldn't believe it....hehe

I always treat petrol with the utmost respect now.

That brings it home just how quickly fire can spread. Also on YouTube is the footage of the Bradford City FC fire, but I am not going to post that here as it is very upsetting to watch.
