I can't think of a single female friend who earns less than her partner, but this is not a random sample, so your experiences may be different.

And I'm far too poor - no one would ever ask me for £10. wink
I've noticed that's almost a 'class' thing - ordinary girls we know who have done good and become a doctor, dentist and solicitors, have married ordinary lads who really haven't done that well for themselves.

The daughters of more wealthy families who are often pretty dim, despite expensive educations, have generally married blokes in high paid jobs.

They probably know your hourly rates and hate you for it. Of course they'll ignore your other costs/expenses.

No, not at all. Why are making things up? Are you doing it deliberately to make a point?

I have no problem with people who do well. I have a problem with people who boast about their salary and rub other people's noses in it by peacocking and displaying how 'successful' they are.

I have uncles, aunties and cousins that could be considered 'wealthy', but they don't feel the need to brag about it like some on here do.
Spending money on a nice holiday/wedding/car/watch isn't necessarily "bragging about it" or "peacocking". (Unless these people are the "Considerably richer than yow" types).

How do you know your relatives are wealthy unless

(A) they've told you about it (bragging?)
(B) they spend it on nice cars etc etc (pea cocking?)
(
Where my relatives live is no secret to my family. The fact that they built or bought their 5 bedroom family home 30 years ago, watched the property multiply in value and have paid off most of the mortgage is no secret either.

The areas they live in are very desirable. None of my older relatives are show offs. They are humble and don't hold some of the disgusting, snobby views that i see on here. They don't hold these views because they see their own children and grandchildren struggling to afford a house and competing for jobs in a competitive market.

So no, they're not peacocking or bragging.

Neither have they worked for it by the sound of it, so they might well be just as ambitionless as you really hence you don't see them in your hated circle of show offs?

Generally someone that has worked for wealth I would expect to be a different type of person to those that gain it by default (certainly from what I see of my parents generation).

Speaking of "peacocking" I was out with two mates and one of their friends for a couple of beers last weekend. Somehow, the guy managed to shoe-horn his salary into the conversation within the first 2 or 3 mins of talking to him and then, when he found out what I do, started trying to get my salary out of me subtly. Very embarrassing and I won't be meeting up with him again.

Your salary/things aren't what make you who you are, anyone who solely bases their impressions of people on their earning potential is usually quite a shallow and insecure person.

You change your record and well change ours.

And do please answer the question:

It really isn't the case in all examples and some people just like having nice things - you seem to not understand this and tar everyone with the same brush.

Can you not see how stupid your premise is that all this is done to show off? Please tell me you're not that fking dumb.

They may well do but there is nothing stopping them from going contracting. What people don't realise is that contractors have no sick/holiday pay on top of everything else and if you do go on holiday you factor in (even if you don't need/want to) how much your losing on top of your holiday cost.

You're the one sounding jealous now. hehe

Do you not like the idea that my working class uncle is more wealthy than you?

And who are you judge whether they earned the house they live in? My uncle built that house with his own hard graft, so i don't need some overpaid yuppie wkstain like you telling me that he hasn't earned it.

A lot of people work hard in life, but certain obnoxious people like to believe that they work harder than others, just because their salary is higher and they get stung for more tax.

Ah so your own family are the leeches of society who have screwed you over! The fact that you hate them must be awkward at family gatherings.

H22 seems to think so and let's face it, you're not allowed to disagree with him as he's the arbiter around here.
