What the fk?! How long have they been saying that? I would have taken loads deliberately in that case and then challenged them to interfere with my personal property.

What a scam.
What a pleasant partner of the patient you'd be then.

For goodness sake - why does everyone have a 'I'm the most important person in the world' attitude these days. If a hospital who is scanning the mother of your child asks you to not photograph the scanner, just oblige. If you're too tight to pay for a couple of prints, maybe fatherhood's not for you.

I honestly despair of the opinions on here by other men. I can imagine seeing people like you in the prenatal ward, kicking off and it makes me just want to do everything privately.

Edited: You're a dentist for chrissakes!! I assumed you were a driveway layer or something.
Listen pal, you know how much st dentists get for charging over the odds for everything? Well I'm not one of them. You want to take a photo of a radiograph I've taken in your mouth go ahead. In fact I regularly email radiographs to patients-for free. Take all the pictures you want.

I don't earn my living charging for photos and neither does the NHS.

Ever heard of the principle of a matter? I don't care if it's £5 or 1p, it is just bad will and poor taste frankly. If you must know my wife gave birth at the American Hospital in Paris and that cost a pretty penny but was worth every one so calling me "tight" is a bit desperate.

In fact you can take all your abusive ad hominum attacks and photograph yourself sticking them up your a@#e. It is very poor form as a way of debating.

Mr Thrust that was classic thumbup
Look, your 'I would have taken loads deliberately in that case and then challenged them to interfere with my personal property' puts across the impression of a certain type - if you think it's 'abusive ad hominum[sic]' then perhaps consider how you sound.

Let's say you weren't as charitable in your practise and didn't allow photographs - how would you view someone who knew this but deliberately took loads and then challenged your nurse about it? Would you see them as a bit unpleasant do you think?
It's not that I "think" it was abusive ad hominem (thanks for correcting my spelling error) it was abusive ad hominem ie you tried to discredit my argument by making remarks about me as a person. This won't work.

And yes I am the type that doesn't like others taking the piss. No apologies for that.

Do not call it charity me not charging for photographs because it isn't. It's me not being a all right and so I expect others not to be a to me. This is called not being a hypocrite, another personal favorite.

(As far as "challenging them to interfere with my personal property" I meant if they asked me to delete the photos and then asked me to give them my phone when I refused. This was prompted by a video I saw on Liveleak recently where a women was asked for a phone after she took a photo of her son in hospital and was told it was "illegal". I didn't mean I would take photos and then look at them defiantly saying "go on if you think you're hard enough")

The NHS does not pay its bills by charging £5 for an ultrasound photo. This is bad will and insulting.

Doctor:

"There you are madam, the Wonder of Human Life, see how his heart beats valiantly with a new found ferver now that he is preparing to come into this wonderous world and join in love with the parents that begat him"

"Oh yeah, and that'll be a fiver for the photo".

Well I just smiled and paid the £3, the couple of times I've done it. I had other things on my mind I suppose.

£3? It's £5 now. At least it was last year. Once upon a time it was free!

ETA: OH wait, a quick Google suggests it varies from hospital to hospital with some not charging and other charging anywhere between £3 to £7.

We got reams of pictures all for free when ours was scanned 15 weeks ago. I guess it all depends on the hospital.

Presumably if you whip your camera out and take photos when they've asked you not to you're trespassing and they can kick you out of the building?

Give that the average cost of raising a child is well over £200k I'm not sure the extra £5 is going to make a huge difference biggrin

The way you've recorded the sonographer and posted the video publicly on the internet is really inappropriate imo. I'm in a similar game (x-ray, CT, MRI) and would take real issue doing that with me.

EDIT: wait, OP is the guy who came up with "We wish to decline doing business with you" in the stupid things salesmen say thread. Says everything really. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Unfortunately, you're a servant of the people and they can do what they want including taking over your equipment if they please - because they pay tax. Not my rule, the rules of PH website.

I don't know what your problem is but the issue is with the signs they have up all over the place making out it's illegal to take photos with your camera phone but it somehow becomes legitimate if you pay them for a copy instead.

Classic PH - one post about the actual topic of the thread, 2 pages of people arguing with each other about buying
prints.

OP - congrats
