If this thread has highlighted one thing......

It's that in Swindon we're getting conned! I'm sure it was £10 for the photos last year!

I don't know what your problem is but the issue is with the signs they have up all over the place making out it's illegal to take photos with your camera phone but it somehow becomes legitimate if you pay them for a copy instead.
I'd be curious as to what the signs actually. The whole health industry is obviously highly regulated. I believe there is some rules about when giving out drugs that they have to get given complete and with all packaging and accessories.

It may be that the hospital can't allow you to take a snapshot as doing so may not include all applicable info that would be included on the printout. Or perhaps the medical staff want to have control over what image you get.

A DM article I read said the hospital trusts earn quite an amount from this so I have no doubt that's a factor too but I wouldn't write off the legal argument either. Remember medical negligence gets very expensive.

Load of nonsense. If that was the case it would ge the same for all images everywhere in the medical world. The drug packaging is an entirely different matter.

No, it's just that they know very well the sheeple will be prepared to pay money for a precious photo of little Johnny/Jenny fetus.

Marketing in the medical sphere, what a beautiful combination.

The way you've recorded the sonographer and posted the video publicly on the internet is really inappropriate imo. I'm in a similar game (x-ray, CT, MRI) and would take real issue doing that with me.

EDIT: wait, OP is the guy who came up with "We wish to decline doing business with you" in the stupid things salesmen say thread. Says everything really. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Everyone has a right to privacy. I don't expect to have a video of me doing my job put up publicly on the internet. In fact I'd probably go a step further and abort the scan and ask the patient to re-appoint. Confidentiality works both ways.

But I didn't post a video of the sonographer did I? What you think you saw isn't actually on the video. Really! You'd abort the scan? Hello hello, you do realise that you are there for us, the paying customer, don't you? In one of the most delightful experiences that you will ever see? Don't you rather see it as a privilege to see the start of a new life? And enjoy that? You must be a real pleasure to work with.

Interesting that took the time to stalk my posting history and make a reference to another thread that has no relevance to this one. That perhaps, says more about you than me?

Well you did, I mean she's right there in the middle of the screen pointing at your kid.

Yeah I would abort. I don't know where this idea that we study for years and work long hours just to be treated like crap comes from. It doesn't work that way.

Fortunately I don't do baby scans because they bore the crap out of me. However, I don't take issue with you nabbing a quick photo of the screen. If you've broken your arm, it's your arm, you might as well have a photo of it as a souvenir. I do take issue with you recording the sonographer though. Does she know she's on the internet?

Perhaps. That thread stood out quite well though so it didn't take much Googling to find it.

There is a black shadow to the left of the screen, waving a finger about. It's not quite 'filming her doing her job'

Working long hours and 4 years study? Welcome to real life. That's almost as laughable as your comments about car salesmen.

So, you're a radiographer? And you'd abort a scan, even if someone had a spiral fracture of the femur would you? Just because someone was taking a cheeky movie?

And do you ask people to pay for their X rays? Do you? Answer that question.

You know it's a 'baby tax' don't you?

I'm not playing that game.

How much did for pay for the scan?
And surely the 'customer' in this scenario is your wife/gf.

So where would you draw the line? Would you mind someone secretly filming you having a colonoscopy as long as the dirty bit isn't on camera? All health workers do what they do because they want to help people out, a bit of privacy is not much to ask.

That's a different scenario because no one else would be in the room to take a video. If you're seen recording footage in an A&E department security will escort you off site anyway - that's a national thing.

I agree it's a baby tax. No reason it can't be done for free, unless it's a private business. And no, in the NHS, no one has to pay for their x-rays. That's the point in health service - but also differentiates a service user from a customer; you get what your doctor believes is best for you, which may not necessarily be what you want.

Like I said though, my issue isn't about that, it's just a bloody picture. All I ask is a bit more respect for the sonographer who's taking her time to show you what you're looking at while ensuring your baby is growing healthily. None of us need to see or hear her, so just delete the video.

40% if my taxable income.

And I saved a fortune for an NHS IVf procedure that is absolutely useless because we paid for it ourselves.

You're being obtuse.

The point, as I'm sure you are aware, is that I don't expect to be 'ambushed'

Your taxes pay for schools too. Good luck with getting Junior through their education without putting your hand in your pocket!

Personally I wouldn't take my phone in if my wife was having a scan.

However, if I was going on a champagne, coke & hookers bender (again) I would definitely have it.
