No, they bloody don't. They also cost an arm and a leg to keep and continually break things, including themselves, at the drop of a hat. For such large animals they're unbelievably fragile. And vet's bills

I've ridden a horse that did that .....

Holiday in Cuba ... 30 or so years ago.
Went to see a rodeo - then went out on a horse ride.

Except - the horses we rode were the horses that they had used in the rodeo, which were also the same horses that were used to round up cattle ...Properly trained, very responsive and very proper cowboy horses!

It had been years since I'd been in the saddle - and most of time those had been 'grazers' or 'cart' like.

Unbeknown to me I was on the one whose name should have been Ferrari!

I was on a gallop from a field that led into a lane.
Once we hit the lane I asked it to slow down in the same way I had always done with any other 'basic model' I'd been on.
However this 'high spec' model was slightly more acute.
It just yanked on the anchors by holding it's legs ridged and skidded down the road to a halt.
The sound of a horse skidding from full gallop to a stop is one I'll never forget and how I hung on I'll never know!

Just a memory I thought I'd share ......
