You'd then have to wait a whole minute to see the long gif, but you'd be used to that sort of slowness anyway. But you could block your browser from downloading any .gifv files.

Yup, I've moved on, in fact From Buckinghamshire where we had 40mbps (fibre), to Gloucestershire where we have 1.5mbps and the

Regular posters here will recall a post pages and pages ago (which I can't find) where a mod suggested a maximum size for a gif (15 Mb rings a bell but I could be wrong), otherwise if larger then just post the link and a description.

I've just loaded irocfan's mini horse movie (64.3 Mb) and it took over 30 seconds. I work for a software company.

What relevance does "work for a software company" have? I'm with the people that have said those complaining need to leave 1985 behind and get in 2015. If you can't afford a modern high speed internet connection or choose to live in the middle of the nowhere where your only option is BTs 100 year old wet string then you should engage brain and realise that trying to access a thread entitled "animated GIFs" is about as monumentally stupid as it gets. Deal with it and quit your whining.
