It can take quite a lot of hits! How much ammo does the one in the foreground actually carry?

Looks like it completely missed the intended target and ricocheted off a rock or something on the ground behind?

The target screens are just black hessian over a wooden frame. The round went through the screen and then ricocheted off something behind. Screens are used predominantly as they are light enough to be presented and then dropped depending on the serial they are shooting. Hard targets tend to be used less so and normally consist of old decommissioned AFVs such as chieftain and 430 series vehicles etc.

Do they still shoot down at Lulworth (I think)? Or is it now all simulation? From memory there used to be public viewing available but not sure if that still goes on with the issues in the world these days.

Been down there a few times with the red flag closing the road across from Corfe. Have heard a few big rounds being fired off and there are plenty of tracks around. Assume they still come from Bovington.

Anyone notice the last impact on the track about 100yds in front of the Tank, would that be the discarded Sabot hitting the ground?

Looks to me as it went through the target, then ricocheted off the ground behind it

Means "clog" and is also the origin of the word "saboteur", as in "putting a clog in the works".

And also means " a device used in a firearm or cannon to keep a projectile, such as a bullet, in the centre of the barrel when fired. It has a smaller diameter than the bore diameter of the weapon used".
