He was coming up behind much faster than the front car. Locked tyres have less grip than controlled braking tyres, so he slid past a more controlled, hard braking car which can slow down quicker. Makes sense in my heid tho'!

Video here shows several views - Looks like he arrived in front of the green car and just cut him off - Grren car had to brake hard and lost the advantage

Still can't decide if it was a great pass or a great save though!
