Full suit in the end. Like a interview...better to be over dressed than underdressed.
You wore a full suit on a date? Did you mum dress you?
That would have been the better option I think hehe

My God. My good God, I can picture you now with a (full) suit and tie on and a £5 bunch of carnations from the Texaco with your hair wetted down and a few spots on your face.

'Fancy doing this again love?'
'End of academic year isn't it?' as she pulls her cardigan back on
'Yeah must be busy for you, not having to go to work for a few months'
'Yes it really is. It means we cannot see each other again till September by which time I'm going to be starting a new academic year which will be busy'
'Still, it's been nice hasn't it?'
'...'
'Look at my full suit'
'bye forever'

She helped tie my laces up.

I had kinda hoped people would have guessed it was a joke...clearly not :P.

They say laughter is the best way to get in a girl's knickers. I guess you're going to have to work a bit harder on your delivery.

To be fair, I've done immediate post-work drink dates and arrived suited. Not had a bad reaction. Admittedly, rocking up on a Saturday night date in a suit and you'd look a chimp. Or on a Sunday, a church-goer. As I said before, dress well all the time and just wear on a date what you would ordinarily wear at that time of day anyway.

Unless you work as a clown.

You might be surprised actually...I've rocked up in my local bar after a mechanics class still in overalls and had more attention than wearing a pin stripe..

CC would fit the bill nicely. Has a penchant for dressing like he's 40.

Rigger boots and smart trousers / shirt seems to be a good combo.

anyone see the married at first sight programme which just ended? Basically all the most jaded, horrid, "i don't have time for a partner", "there are no good men left", dated all of the internet, swiped left till my phone broke, egg-counting biological clock fktards. To be fair the men aren't much better, but they are mostly just hopeless pathetic dicks, so maybe some of you can relate!

biggrin

Am tempted... would be quite a laugh though whether id get past Monday morning, let alone ever live it down is another thing.... Mind you, maybe some very attractive ladies on there, just to get on TV, though quite how much fun you'd have with cameras on you all the time.......

More cringe TV; might watch later if I feel like indulging in some schadenfreude.

Managed to get the number of a cute Spanish doctor last night, not been bothering so much with the online thing recently. The hot weather seems to of driven all of the pretty girls out of wherever they were hibernating.

Might be seeing the Burlesque dancer tomorrow evening but she hasn't got back to my text asking her not to forget her tassels. May have blown that one hehe

So I've been persuaded by my mate to go to a speed dating event with him. Never been to one, and I've no idea what to expect. I booked it and got an email describing how it works, and it's how I figured it would work (3 mins per "date", possibly 25 in total). Just wondering if anyone here has experienced such an event, and any positive outcomes? I'm not going in with high hopes, I'm in no rush to meet someone, but just curious about other folks' experiences

I've not been to one but in my experience, men decide based on what they see, women on what they hear and see.

To my mind three minutes is ample to decide if you want to exchange numbers or go somewhere quieter, research indicates first impressions count and they are made in 7 seconds.

Clearly there'll be different opinions from those less shallow but if you don't want to snog someone on first sight, move on and you're in a good spot to do so.

I'd advise against aiming to get lots of numbers though, focus on the one you really think there's some chemistry with and report back, I'd like to know how it went.

Yeah, I went to one 'with a mate' as well.

You have 10 seconds to spit out your name, your age, location, what you do and something interesting about you complete with a smile. Anything else after that doesnt really matter other than asking a question, and not 'what's your favourite colour' or 'what's the solution to the Greek banking crisis' - something in the middle that doesnt have a yes or no answer.

Then the whistle will be um...whistled or the bell rung, and you move on. If you havent caught someone's interest in the first 10 seconds forget it. You'll also find that a lot of the women wont pick anyone from the suitors that've tried to charm them. Dont worry about it, it's really really good for gaining the ability of striking up a conversation with someone, fancy them or not, and not thinking of them as a walking pair of tits.

Will do (if I remember). By the sounds of things, speed dating is just Tinder IRL. Women are too picky, but it's evolutionary, I guess
