Join the club! I have been seeing a girl I met via Tinder regularly over the past 3 months on alternate weekends (I work every other weekend) She was due to arrive here by train last night, Friday morning I get a message 'My heads not right, someone else has cropped up' This was after she asked me if I wanted to take things further which I did/do. An episode of the mental perhaps? Or she's genuinely confused.

So I am literally waiting for her to figure it out and my planned activities of copious sex & pizza went out the window.

Do I even bother if she does choose me? All Il do is wonder who this other chap is.
Someone else or something else? If its someone its an ex...... new people don't crop up, you go looking for them and find them. Semantics maybe

As for mine, who knows, maybe her ex is a dead soldier and close to 11/11 is too painful, maybe her kids going through tough times, parents going into ahome or jail, who knows, maybe horrific period pains or ibs!

Her words 'someone else' my thinking was the same as yours. Although she said her Tinder-ing marked a year of being single and over the previous long term relationship. I reckon its a housemate of hers. He will know about me as she disappears for two weekends a month and has asked. Then bam. He confesses hes always loved her, she's probably thought about it before which is making her question me now. The waiting is the worst bit, im preparing myself for the worst outcome. I'l be sure you let you know what happens, you know, so you can sleep at nights again..laugh

So once again I'm thinking of trying to do something about being single. Kindof went through a rough patch over the last few years but managed to resolve two of the key things that were causing it, which now just leaves the lack of a relationship. There is a girl on my course who I really like but it's obvious she doesn't feel the same way about me. Admittedly I'm a bit gutted, but have to accept it and move on since you can't make someone like you.

Browsing POF there do seem to be some nice women on there, but I really cannot think of what to say in a message. No point sending something too short but no point in an essay either when you probably won't get a reply. I have no interest in clubbing, lad's nights outs, flings, bits on the side or one nighters and would really just like to meet someone down to earth I could actually have an intellectual conversation with. I appreciate this is going to lose me several man points, but I have very little relationship experience and do suffer from confidence issues, to the extent I have a virtual phobia of my picture being taken (MTFU, just go and smash her back doors in etc) which really doesn't help matters. Am I on a hiding to nothing here?

2 month old baby just proves that she puts out (or at least did in the past 12 months).

Depends where you are in your head, I would say you need to be robust to use POF if you are looking to meet someone. 9/10 wont respond, of those that do respond, some will only tlk in txt spk m8, rofling at their own lols but there are some genuinely nice people out there. Sorting the wheat from the chaff doesn't even come close, its more like the worlds smallest needle in haystack made of razor blades.

If you can take the knocks, being ignored, ending up in conversation with the odd halfwit, accept that many women on there do so purely to have their attention massaged, some are attention wes, some just wes, some are hunting for a unicorn on a stick then you'll be fine.

Its a numbers game, no different to a club or bar. There might be a 1 in 200 of a mutual match, so don't get pissed off after the first unsuccessful 199 messages

I have given up writing war and peace btw, 2 short paragraphs, 1st making some comments about what she has written and about me, 2nd cutting to the chase 'Im free next Saturday if you feel like meeting up for a coffee/drink/dinner' and this seems to work better in terms of weeding out the useless and disinterested. I've messaged lasses for days and when you suggest meeting up, they block you, so get to the point

Like I say, its a game and statistically speaking you will only win 1 in a hundred, just remember that and enjoy! You'll met/chat to some truly mental people which makes for good lads tales if nothing else

Good luck

Yes this for sure. I've done online dating on and off through most of my twenties and also probably have similar confidence issues. The worst thing you can do is really pin your hopes on those "dream profiles" as investing any sort of emotional engagement in the early stages will just demoralise and knock your confidence.

Message all kinds of profiles, short, to the point but with a bit of humour / cheekiness. Expect a 9/10 girls to ignore you unless you really are George Clooney in the looks department.

Spend a lot of time on your profile, especially pictures. The popularity of tinder proves that it's all about the pics.

Then get a first meeting sorted early. Don't bother messaging for weeks on end - there is no substitute at all for face to face time.

It's hard to be so thick skinned, but it really is the best way. My best dates have been with girls whose profile in all honesty didn't stand out massively on first glance and didn't leap out to me with "oh my god she likes that too..." moments.

Oh by the way Neg Creep - try okcupid rather than pof. It's still free but just seems to attract a better variety and dare I say class of girls!

Got speaking to three women on POF lately.

1. One word answers constantly. Stuck with it as she was hot. Asked to swap mobile numbers, to which she replies that she can't. When I ask why I get 'its a private matter'. That was really her longest reply to me! Stopped replying to her.

2. 28 years old, no face photo, but photo of her neck down. Always wary, but message sent anyway. Got a reply and she seems nice. Studying to be a nurse, chatty and pleasant to talk to. Downside is she has three kids. Fairly young as well.

3. 18 years old. Only started talking today, she messaged me. Within a handful of texts she has given me her mobile number. Warning signs are going off already. Second text was 'I wanted to know what kind of relationship you wanted and if you would date me'.

We haven't even met yet. Said the truth about what I want, and that we would have to meet before hand. Next thing I know she's giving me her address and wants me to pick her up Monday morning.

I'm going to be killed aren't I if I go? I'm tempted to fake my death to get out of this one.

Number 2 has potential though.

Might see if number three wants to meet somewhere public, I can do a drive by to see what shes like before making a run for it.
no 2 is probably married or attached and doesn't want to get rumbled.

You know that is what I was thinking. That and the fact she won't text me, its all via POF still (she has my number).

Might just ask her outright and see what she says.

Does it matter? To you I mean.

If yes, ignore; her conduct so far is hardly the basis of a 'sensible' relationship.
If no, don't ask. See her when she fancies it and try and shag her brains out.

So have I....

Kinda ruins the moment when she asks if she can go on top and then climbs into a separate bed.

I got cuffed recently, because she came after me and she's older I refer to her jokingly as the Cougar, she's come out of a marriage, I've never been married and have been through several relationships so she refers to me as a 'Player'.
I'm not a player, we're in bed post coital and she's saying I am, I'm trying to convince her I'm not. Anyhow, it's time for her to go home so I ring a taxi firm I haven't used in years to pick her up. The guy on the other end of the line somehow recognises my number and without me even telling him refers to me by name and says he will send a car out to me at No.22, Xxxx St.
She gives me one of those looks.
