I'm on tinder whilst here in the US, mainly just for a laugh or a chat as a) it's pretty hard to hook up when you're staying in the hotel with your family and b) anything meaningful would be quashed by the distance.

However, I'm surprised. Tinder in the UK is full of reasonably attractive girls. Tinder over here... Well... Isn't.
I'm not a shallow man, I can see beauty in the "girl next door" and I absolutely value personality over looks... But there has to be some physical attraction and gee whiz, some of the profile pictures out here are plain scary!
Imagine what they think about you!
lol

Slightly off topic my middle (very straight and serious) son has been with his girlfriend for seven months now. They had dinner here together at the weekend. She's very pretty, quiet/shy and as grown up snd serious/sensible as he. The way he speaks of the relationship is that they will go to university, have their careers, marry and perhaps have children but not until they're comfortable and possibly in their 30s. He is 15 shortly. I almost hope true and long lasting love still exists.
Tell him about tinder, I give the relationship a week after that hehe
They're still going strong together, she's working weekends and he's joined the gym. Still very much loved up.

He knows all about Tinder and my experiences. I'm fact we used to play a game where I'd let the boys swipe for me, a kind of 'pick your new Daddy' type thing. They were mostly unkind to me...

the ones that confuse me are the ones who contact me with a brief introductory message such as "hi, how was your weekend" and when I reply with a bit of info on what I did and ask how theirs was, they don't reply.

What's the point? They've viewed my profile, asked a quesition, got a reply and then what.....?

I often begin to wonder if I need to put my tin foil hat on and dig out this secret women's website with a database of blokes on it and reasons to avoid them? biggrin
Stop telling them you spent the weekend polishing your model train collection and trying to break the 7 wk wall. hehe LIE TO THEM MAN!!!
Definitely make something incredible up. I mean, imagine a woman telling you she'd been to a car meet and turned up with a kitten on her shoulder.

If you'd added "with some lego and wearing a star wars T-shirt" 89% of Pistonheaders would have just spunked in their undies.

I'm quite proud of myself that I managed to avoid any references to Mrs Slocombe

Its a little O/T but a few days ago I went onto PoF as a guest just to see who was on their these days in my area. I spent about three years dating on that site, but stopped using it about two years ago after I met my current missus. Browsing the search function showed lots of new people to my days, but also quite a few people who were on there for as long as I was, still with the same pictures. So there's women on there who have been using that site for at least five years now and still they are searching. I found the whole thing a bit depressing after my years of use, but it does make me wonder why these people are still searching after all these years.
I reckon they are unicorn hunters.

It seems to be common knowledge that women get numerous replies and from their profiles some get hundreds. Having gone back and had a look on POF there are some real lookers on there who were there a year ago. From the hundreds or thousands of replies they've had in the last year there wasn't one guy for them?

Anyone tried PlentyOfSize. What is the deal there?
Larger ladies looking for love, presumably larger men too.

Cant be arsed to think of the words that wouldn't offend the PC brigade, but I certainly prefer a slightly chubby lass to a bin liner full of bones, but morbidly obese isn't my thing. From the pictures on the home page, none of the lasses look particularly plus size to me, but I guess that's some pointless crap and not shots of actual members fnarr fnarr.

May register when I get back from hols and see what the score is

First date since breaking up with my ex sorted for Thursday.

29 years old, mortgage advisor or something. Spoke on the phone (which I'm not normally a fan of) and got on.

Looking forward to it smile.

Best of luck chap.

I'm becoming quite a fan of the pre-first-date phone chat. Puts you in their head as a real person not just a name on their phone screen, gives you a chance to lay on the charm, easier to read how into you she is, you have her full attention for the entire phone call (unlike texting where she's probably got 5 blokes on the go at any one time), makes you stand out from the crowd a bit.

Plus you get a chance to filter out the annoying accent birds...

This thread is brilliant! Glad its not just me having issues on dating sites!

Too many people on them just want pen pals or someone to boost their egos!

Top tip, always insist on more than a face picture before meeting up. boxedin

couple of observations : opinions, agreement/disagreement welcome:

1: if they have only professional looking photos, then be prepared for a shock
2: if they have the words 'sexy', 'hot' or similar in their username, then they usually aren't

When it comes to reading profiles about their interests and whatnot, I read it in the opposite sense to see if it makes sense. If it doesn't then they're boring...

e.g. (in an extreme example)

"I love motorsport and horses"
becomes :
"I dislike motorsport and horses"

both of which are reasonable positions to take, You may not agree, but it's still a reasonable position

However,

"I like going out, having fun and socialising"
becomes
" I don't like going out, don't like having fun and don't like socialising"
...doesn't sound like a reasonable position to take, so the origina version should really go without saying... in the abscence of anything else, a profile that reads as unreasonable in the negative would put me off

I think I've spent far too long in my career in data analysis :/

Date was postponed sadly. But probably a good thing, I had my fitness test and personal safety refresher at work and was walking like I shat myself and was asleep by 7:30!

Hoping for next week smile

Just caught up on a bit of this.

I'm disappointed in you lot, there are virtually no escapades, filthy stories, dating nightmares or jumping on females when they post on the thread.

What the fk has happened to this place?

Emma (who posted above) has her pic in her profile, have any of you pm'd her yet for a date? Sent cock pics?

Get to it lads for fk's sake.
