Not really... I'm Network Support, so just keeping an eye on things and hoping for a quiet steady night. Last one then I'm off til Sat.

Currently watching Transformers, researching sports supps, and browsing FB/PH. Work is steady.

What exam do you have then? Good luck btw!

Hello nightshifters, I have a "sleep-deprived" EEG examination at the local hospital at 9am so have to remain awake all night tonight. Taking the opportunity to catch up on some work.

Sounds like an easy night for you then hehe

And the exams on a module called "Systems administration and maintenance" not too worried about it as it's basically what I've been doing as a job for the last 12 months as well. Exam's at 12, then I've got 4 assignments to get finished off and submitted and then I'm done with uni until results day....

My easy night from home has gone to st.

I've relocated to the lounge so as not to wake the wife as I need to call people out and get things fixed.

Got the dumbells with me and will get some sets in while I wait for calls back.

Anybody lurking tonight? I'm in for a long night in work, somehow managed to end up with a strain of the crypto locker virus on the work network. And it's taken down the file server, web server and the backup NAS. So i'm sat here for the foreseeable piecing it all back together frown

Years of job-travelling between time zones have not gone unnoticed... My biological clock is knackered. Almost 1am now, and I'm home going about my business like it's high noon. 'Night' should come around 4-5am I reckon.

Have to say, I really enjoy the peace and quiet of these nights in my town. Seeing the night bus get in from London, the Royal Mail truck and the Costa delivery guy doing their rounds, hearing the birds starting to chirp around 5 o'clock... This is bliss. Just the damn passing taxis keep annoying me for some reason.

Doesn't sound like a bad evening for you. I'm sat in an office that's im possible to get the temperature right in, it's either ridiculously warm, or freezing cold there's no middle. Slowly watching progress bar's crawl as things copy back across.

its 10:41am for me... Im studying for a professional Risk Management course dedicated to Finance... Back to school and looking at my maths skills again, some of the equations are down right obscene.

If its not that, Im studying functional database programming, or writing a course dedicated for grads to learn hybrid programming.

I thought I had got past learning brand new ideas or teaching people in the Finance world, but nope... Seems like I have a month or two of studying/teaching now.

Sounds like you're going to make a lot of money in a few years' time, painful as it is now. Man, if I had the brains for programming...

Ha! Sounds like my first 6 months in Yorkshire. hehe

This actually brings back some memories from my air force days. Sitting in a watch tower in some desert sthole, counting bullets in my magazine and listening to (in your case watching) the local wildlife. Indeed, usually freezing in winter and boiling in summer. Good to be reminded of that occasionally, whilst struggling with my current first world problems.

Great but Im a programmer with 15 years experience already.... I just fancied the idea of learning Financial Risk management, to see if I can write something to cover all the equations and then I can use that.

The database thing is a natural progression of my advanced SQL skills.

On the upside, perhaps with your newly acquired skills you'll be able to assess the risks of going on such course better next time. idea

No, it's pretty calm. Dry, no wind, not warm, but not cold either. Nothing special about it at all.

What's it like there?

Nice and quiet here, just like yesterday. Doing some housework with one of my favourite vlogs, The Saad Truth, playing in the background: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5-oG0L6ZnU

Some crazy stuff going on in American unis lately. I'm a student myself and can see some of what he's mentioning here in the UK as well. Hope it doesn't go that far.
