It's just occurred to me...

Those oil installations the Allies are taking out so IS can't sell the product won't be being run by IS. So there are blokes who have been captured by IS, forced to work for them and are now being shot at by the other side.

At least with the USSR, the Nazis and Genghis Khan you knew pretty much what you were up against and what their ambitions were. Fighting IS must be like fighting the weather; it's everywhere and hard to pin down.

Possibly not, but since they don't appear to understand the concept of a clock, I have little hope for their ability to understand where and when to use a cock.

Last night J11A to J12 on the M5 was advertised as being shut (rather than just being st), from 2200 onwards for a one night closure. Fine, no problem. Why then, was it shut at 2145? The diversion wasn't thought through either - it's better to come off at J11, down the Golden Valley and straight onto the Gloucester ring road rather than having to head towards Cheltenham, then around the roundabout near Brockworth, all the way back into Gloucester and then along the ring road. Why didn't I take my own advice you might ask? Because the only matrix sign warning of the impending closure was the one situated just after J11.

The upshot was that I missed dinner at the hotel and ended up paying for a McDonalds instead of a free 3-course dinner, hence my ire being directed at the Highways Agency.

Bah.
