Evening all.
Tonights thankless task has been to try and tax my bloody car.
90 fking minutes so far to try and get the gov.uk website to get to the final stage so I can pay for it. am working tomorrow (60 miles away) so I need to get it taxed tonight.
My own fault, I should have realised that there was no way it would actually work properly for day 1 of the new system.
Did you see my FB update? Frustrating. Still, I'm getting to keep my money a little longer. And according to my PO I only need the V11, not an MOT cert... Though not sure I have time until Friday now. Hopefully website will be mended by then. Either way I've tried. Their problem. Tonights thankless task has been to try and tax my bloody car.

Last night I spent more than 2 hours trying to get through before I got fed up and gave up. Plan B was to risk it getting to work and get the OH to tax it at the post office.

Thanks, iva. She was lovely. She had an uncomfortably poor upbringing with many siblings she helped to look after. She had a good marriage, produced four children of her own and had a comfortable old age. Rarely complained. 93 she was. Dodged being strafed in the lanes of Newbury by a German fighter during the war!
Sorry to hear about your MIL Dicky, 93 is a damn good innings though and at least her daughters were with her at the end.I had the V11 in my purse. Popped I to the PO on my lunch break. No queue. No requirement for any documentation except the V11 now. 30 seconds later I'm taxed and done.
I've taxed online for years. Now everyone thinks there's less paperwork (there always was really) they're taxing online. So in the age of the digital world the manual practise is far easier.
Ironic really.

Love stories like this. What a top lady she sounded. I'm sorry for your loss xDickyC said:
Had the most bizarre experience earlier. We have MiL very poorly in hospital and me working and staying up in Wales unable to help with midweek visiting. Ran out of urgent work at lunchtime an asked if it would be okay to go. Left at noon, arrived home in Newbury at 2:30, regrouped, got to the hospital in Basingstoke with Mrs C at 3:30. As we were going in we met the consultant coming out. "I was just on my way to phone you to say things aren't looking good." Left Mrs C there and drove back to Newbury to fetch her sister. We arrived back at the hospital before five. She knew her daughters were there and after about half an hour quietly passed away.
The fickle gods of chance were with me today. It could have all been so different.
Oh Dicky The fickle gods of chance were with me today. It could have all been so different.
Today was the second anniversary of my FiL's sudden passing; still raw for Mrs Champers and my now lonely MiL; it was sudden and unexpected, the day after his 73rd birthday; the Princesses have been quiet the last few days; they remember how much he loved them, as they did him
I joined PH three days later just so I could share in TT after having lurked for about five months; good people in here
I hope your wife is ok, and you.
Exchanged a few text messages with my neighbour this evening. Her somewhat Tom and Barbara Good Aunt and Uncle had been down over the weekend from Scotlandshireland. (They're a very sweet old couple, but easy and prolific alcohol consumption seems to be a family trait...)
She had been inspired/intimidated by them to do a bit of gardening on her balcony and tonight sent me a photo of her new herb garden. I'm not sure if it was a euphemism or not.
