I've been given a pot of Fois Gras from Paris. I don't want to eat it.

Anyone had it before and if so, what's it like?

Quick question: Have you taken your tax disk out of your car?!
Yep, out of every vehicle I've got into this month that has one still in the window.

It's like a parfait of fatty goodness. I like to panfry it so the outside is lightly crisp but the inside is all pink.

Ease the pate from the pot by standing in warm water for a minute and run a knife around the pot, cut into 1/2" slices. Heat a frying pan until very hot.

Season the foie gras slices generously with sea salt.
Add the foie gras to the hot pan. Cook for 30 seconds, remove from the heat and quickly flip the pieces of foie gras over. Allow to finish cooking in the pan for 30 seconds more and then serve immediately on top of a pieces of hot toast. Great with relish or a chutney.

Duck or goose?

Tried goose before, fking lovely.

Nice with sweet wine, those little crunchy bread things (not croutons, the bigger ones biggrin) and apricot jam/puree/some Französisch thing.

Well here's an interesting one!

Germany's pensioners that rely solely on the state pension are barely getting by and the numbers are set to increase rapidly.

D'you want to know what one senior MP is proposing, do you, DO YOU??

They want to double the amount of Pfand (deposit) on drinks bottles and cans so that when the old people fish them out of bins, they can get more money for them. yes

WTF????????????????????????????????

Do you still have the tax for der Ost?

It was about 50DM IIRC in 1995-7ish.
