Daughter has just done a typical whirlwind pit stop. In and out of here getting ready for the usual student night out, while scoffing a load of yesterday's tapas leftovers. Her departure has now left me ruminating as to whether I should make an effort and head to the bar myself.

Two weeks ago my push-bike was knicked on a Saturday night, next morning was returned unscathed by a Police wagon from 1/2 a mile away after it was neatly parked in someone's drive. All my really nice lights and battery were still there and not a scratch on it.

So only now, 2 weeks later, does the 'community officer' bother coming round hassling my neighbours for their dirt on this vile crime, rather than going into the fisherman's Pub 200 yards up the road and asking the rough boys. Even I got questioned by this short-arsed twerp until I explained it was my bike.

Have locked the bike since, but my low opinion of the cops has sunk even further.
