My dad had a story about a strike at Vickers Armstrong at Brooklands during the war that halted the production of the Wellington bomber. It was found that the strainer in the tea urn in the canteen was made from a sock - an old sock that had belonged to the husband of one of the canteen ladies. You can push blokes just so far.

Great story chap
Fer gawd's sake don't start him off. We'll never hear the end of it.There's two old fellas reminiscing already today down by the end of the runway on the inside of the wire. Yours presumably? Send someone down to collect them, can you? And try to impress upon them that although it's not very busy this is a working airfield, if you please.
I live a matter of yards from the Reading Festival Main Stage, as the crow flies. I have attended the Festival for the last 20 years, however this year's line up is so crappy I have not bought a ticket. Now they're all here making a massive noise and even bigger stink, I'll not be able to sleep for three nights, and I deeply regret not getting a ticket, even though I'm heading for 50 and the bill is full of teeny bop rubbish this year. Bah.

Ah, Reading Festival. My first was in 1972: Faces, Nazareth, Quo, Curved Air and Focus, amongst others. I'm just off to YouTube to watch Curved Air and Backstreet Love. They're probably still performing it to audiences of 20 people in the backs of pubs.
