Somewhat foggy down here. Which is ok, but the noisy boat horns are annoying.

The fog was spectacular this morning. Cresting a hill I saw the tendrils beginning in two dips to the left, extending and rising over the village straight ahead of me. It was eerie. All bar the foremost trees and the church spire were utterly ungulfed, and yet the sky above was clear as could be bar the red, practically glowing vapour trails. Beautiful.

Uh huh.

Google Translate says:
tree adon = My Christmas Tree is an ex-Mafia Chief turned informer in disguise as part of a Witness Protection Programme.

This year I'm taking a bone-in Rib roast to my parents on Boxing Day.

Been reading up on how to make it perfect.

Two types of ham on Boxing Day, no idea for Xmas Day yet.

Xmas Eve will be a ton of beer and a kebab. Maybe a Wetherspoons' lunch too. Classy.

Looks a good method, I always sear it on the outside before putting it in the oven; how long depends on weight.

Christmas Turkey for 9 at my place this year. Never cooked a turkey before so going to get a crown. WTF part of a bird is the crown? Any ideas how much to order for six adults?

NSIS?

But, a crown is basically just the breast of the bird on the bone, so no legs or wings.

Turkey leg meat is actually really nice and you'll get more flavour and the meat will stay moister if you go for a whole bird.

A turkey is cut in half leaving the breast meat on the bone oven ready, the legs and thighs are re-used else where.

If you can buy a 4kg piece that will suffice with a little left for sarnies/curry.

I'd guess @ 2.5kg

A 1.5 to 1.75kg/3 to 4lb bird will feed 3 to 4 people
A 3 to 3.5kg/7 to 8lb bird will feed 7 to 9 people

Or look at M&S winkhttp://christmasfood.marksandspencer.com/listing/m...

To keep it moist, I put a mix of herbs, olive oil & butter in between the skin & the flesh before cooking. It's messy work but yum
