Enoch Powell's speech became true a good few years ago I'm afraid.

Did it? Rivers of blood. Where was that then? From what I can see, most of the time, most of the people, mostly get on with each other just fine. A few s of all creeds and colours excepted. But that was always the case.
From what you can see? Try stepping outside your quaint village and into the real world.

We'll all have jet packs that are fuelled by urine.

The iPad 56 will be like a sheet of stiff cling film, but will struggle to compete with Google contact lenses.

The retirement age will be 75.

I live in London too and have no idea what you're on about. What is it that you see that leads you to believe this?

Ahhh, now you might have a point there. I have agoraphobia, and I haven't left the house since 1971. But looking out of my window, people seems to get on fine.

why is he a nutter? We already have extremists in Britain they are the recruiters for the training camps! There were reports just last week that young muslims have been recruited from the midlands. If people can be brainwashed by these beliefs to such an extent that allow themselves to be recruited for terrorism, then is it not conceivable that one day Britain could have this to deal with?

It will be ruined by laws introduced by liberals
Allowing those that dont give a damn or contribute to take the p*ss to the point that the country can no longer function

The plus side is that at this point the country will then become less attractive to the Economic migrants that come here for no other reason than to take advantage of our current stupidity in handing out money to those that dont deserve it.

The positive aspect is that those with ability will probably rise up and create a society that gives a sh*t
This may end up being messy, but at least they wont be doing all the work for other to benefit.
Plus any fundamentalists may come up against people not shackled by doing the so called right thing!

Europe will probably see similar but sooner. I imagine with a slightly differing outcome. As i imagine they will become overun and anarchy takes hold. Maybe Germany will start building another wall!

Seems like doom and gloom lol
i blame the out of touch MPs, who appear to have no idea of how society is in parts of this country. And all the reports they have done will never give them a true insight.
They also represent Parties that dont seem to hold values that are representative of the overall electorate!

Have I stunbled onto the Daily Mail forums by mistake?

It staggers me that so much drivel can be posted by so many ill-educated people. The country will go to the dogs, not because of immigrants/muslims/funny looking people, but because they are provided as ready-made scape-goats for the idiot classes to blame.

There are things going on which are not politically sustainable, and will have to work themselves out in less than 50 years. Our current welfare state is a collapsing Ponzi scheme. The tension between the direction of the EU and the aspirations of the British public will need to be resolved one way or another. The economic performance of the West looks like a failing empire viewed from the emerging economies. We are crippling ourselves trying to reduce our carbon emissions while net emissions continue to rise because of development elsewhere - if we really think there will be adverse climactic consequences, we should be spending money on mitigation, not decarbonisation. Some accommodation will have to be reached with Islam, whether that is some sort of compromise or a proper secularisation of the UK. The Middle East is heading into ever more interesting times. Russia's position in the world is not stable. Europe's dependence on Russian energy is worrying.

I'm glad I will be (am) too old to be conscripted if the st hits the fan.

Don't worry about him, it's probably from his experience as a Phones4U salesman rather than educated professional who all get along fine.

The 'anti-islam' stance on here in recent months is really quite shocking. I expect as much on NP&E where most posters are narrow minded, xenophobic idiots but not the lounge. Puts me off reading a lot of threads as I just dont get people who live in such fear of change whilst not bothering to learn anything about it. Some people have never heard of humanity/civilisation by the sound of it.

Grow up!

yeah, Islam seems to be a bit behind the times on that one, by about 300 years.

Father Christmas and God (of any denomination). Can anyone explain the difference to me?

What is there to worry about? I find it highly unlikely that Sharia law will ever be adopted here. I find it highly unlikely that the majority of the population is ever going to be muslim. Why worry so much about something that hasnt, and probably wont, happen? Get on with your life, stop living in fear
