A mate from work did this last night. I've now received my nomination. Great.

This is but another moment where I feel some satisfaction for never having had a Facebook account. I'm yet to be convinced I've missed out on anything worthwhile.
Do you run your own business or are you involved in any kind of marketing for the business you work for? wink

Was nominated.
Did the challenge, donated £10 and nominated 3 others.
If they all do the challenge and donate £10 towards the motor neuron disease charity then i'll be happy and would have essentially contributed to £40 being given to a worthwhile charity.

You're aware that you could have just donated forty quid anyway?

Hopefully people are doing their research before deciding which Motor Neurone Disease charity to give to (or cancer charity as seems to be the trend in the UK). This popped up on facebook today - something to think about.

What kind of a question is that? I think £10 is a good sum of myself to donate.

Absolutely. Anything is a good sum to donate. It doesn't even need to be cash, as time can be equally valuable. More so, in some cases. My point is that people don't have to do pointless tasks, or incite them in others, in order to give to charity.

Some of these videos are worse than the Oscars, with the lists of whoever and thanks for nominations. I applaud anyone giving to charity but not when they crave recognition for doing so.

Edit to add it was you who quoted the £40 figure.

Yep, I got nominated. I don't like these chain letters at any time but I can see the charitable side of this one, however, I was not about to put a selfie video up on facebook, so I made a donation on my behalf, and the behalf of the three people I was supposed to have subsequently nominated, and said no more about it. The amount of crap I've had from mutual friends of my nominator to get my video done is unreal. The silver lining is that it has given me the final impetus I needed to bin Facebook entirely.
thumbup for your charity. Expected response from friends of your nominator.

Not me, I've not been nominated. Others? Definitely. You may find it funny, but not everyone does. The bully often doesn't recognise himself for what he is.

You're probably not missing out. Well, you probably are as there are many benefits to using FB on a personal level.

Without reading the whole thread, I've been nominated to do this. But can I give to any charity? I have plenty I would prefer to donate to than the ones for MNS.

Otherwise it seems like coercion to donate to a cause that I'm not particulartly interested in supporting over a bunch of others which I prioritise.

The Flashman Fund for Dispossessed Lapdancers, for example, needs some wonga.

No, the ALS have made it illegal to donate to any other charity once you've been nominated. It's in the fine print.

I've just done it. It's a bit of fun and I have nominated a coupe of equally scowling miserable anti the trend bds to do it.
A friend just nominated me and my first reaction was a scowl. Having thought on it though I should stop being a miserable sod, get damp and pass the misery on...

That is all.
