Wasn't too cold but it was nice to have some snow over the Christmas holidays.

In South Birmingham. Already have a layer on rooves and cars, would say it's starting to stick to ground too. It's only going to get colder and its forecast overnight!

Really excited, but my parents have to get down to Gatwick tomorrow, which may be a ballache.

Snowing just north of Brum, doubt it will settle, ground is soaking! Grrrrrr!
It will. The front that is creating the ppn right now where you are has a pool of cold air high up in it, which has allows it to snow pretty much all day, but you've only had rain on the ground, as it was too warm for the snow to remain as snow. However, the melting process of the snow has cooled the air sufficiently now to get to the "wet bulb freezing level" to allow it to snow to the ground. This cold air will continue to stay mixed in with the precipitation through the nigh, provididing plenty of snowfall opportunity, whilst also freezing the ground. It is then being followed by a high pressure, which will freeze the ground. I'd be VERY surprised if you didn't wake up to 4 / 5" of lying snow in the morning (obviously, if your in a big urban area, the urban heat may be sufficient to keep the WBFL high enough to only deliver wet snow that doesn't stick around

True.

I was busy eating Mrs K's stuffing (no euphemism intended!) and could only post one handed, so decided to keep it short and sweet!

Currently staying with my parents on the Herts/Cambs border, it's raining so I doubt any snow over night will settle.

My housemates are still at the flat in west London so they'll soon tell me if I'm missing snow there hehe

You've got more chance of seeing snow than your friends in West London. The cold in the front itself is creating the snow, not the classic wet air bumps into cold, dry air scenario. It's quite marginal,,but can produce lots of snow

There's a chance that we might see some snow in North Hamshire / Berkshire overnight. Slim, but definitely a possibility.
