The Official Winter Snow Thread 2014/2015

We had the biggest ever thunderstorm in Rhodes on Friday night.
Our villa was on the top of a mountain, overlooking Navarone Bay and at one point at around 0230, it felt as if the thunderclouds were right outside the villa with lightning striking all around us. It was monumental to witness

First frost of the season today in NE Scotland. Can't remember it being this late before.
I envy you a good frost. I'm getting bored of slightly sunny, slightly blustery, occasionally drizzly nothing weather. And I do wonder if the incredibly mild autumn we've had bodes well for the snow lovers.

It's my birthday in 2 weeks and I can't remember it ever being this warm in the run-up to it. Normally it's chilly bordering on freezing fog.
Maybe I just have a rubbish memory though.
In November 2006, due to a serious illness, I spent almost two months in a London hospital. I remember stifling wards due to the heat and days spent sitting in the warm sunshine in the hospital grounds.Maybe I just have a rubbish memory though.

@Puggit - have you been reading the OPI thread on Netweather? Could be a cold winter...
I haven't, but there's plenty of chatter about this everywhere. A very similar build up to one of the recent cold winters One thing I have been watching is the build up of snow across the northern hemisphere which is one of the best years on record. For example, in St Petersburg, Russia they have already had snow falling - when last winter they didn't see any until after Christmas!
