Log burner's been on for a few weeks now, heating went on this week, and it's still below 17℃ in the main living area hehe

This thread follows a pattern each year,

Bit of promise
Expectation
Nothing much happens
Well that was a big let down wasn't it !

I hope we do get some decent snowy weather for once, fond memories of that winter in 2010 I think,

Started wearing my winter coat this week and got the gas heater on tonight.

Possibly the best thing about it all is a nice hot water bottle. I let my feet get really cold about 15 minutes before I go to bed, makes it even nicer cloud9

Many people far more clever than me are starting to think that this winter could be "the big one". Apparently, all the signs are aligning for a potentially very cold and snowy winter...
That always happens though, its always "the models are showing..." or "there are indications of..."

Its all balls.

As chilly as its been over the past couple of days it looks to be warmer or the same as last year.

First signs of trouble for Western Europe? Looks like some serious snow about to hit USA too.

That old saying about the weather in New England by Mark Twain rings true for old England as well, "If you don't like the weather now just wait a few minutes...."

This winter it will be cold, mild, wet, windy, sometimes frosty and perhaps a bit of snow will fall.

Totally O/T.

That's Kel out of Kenan and Kel. I'd forgotten about them. My daughter loved their shows when she was a kid in the mid to late 90s.

I loved the shows too. paperbag

It's a real pain in the butt frown

Sadly, we are always right on the western edge of any colder weather and surrounded by a giant hot water bottle frown

I'd call it tepid rather than hot

Well it's snowing in my part of Sweden now. st.

Had hoped this day would not come this year. I'm equally disappointed every year.

Where I stay, just south of Munich, it was 23c on Tuesday afternoon. This morning, 36 hours later, there is 3 inches of snow on the ground and it's still falling......

Don't you just hate all these people from continental Europe showing off!

If it's going to be one of those winters where they get loads whilst we stand on damp ground looking on I won't be happy weeping

Glancing through the post listing, read this quickly, brain not fully computing...and read as...

"Well it's snowing in my part of Swindon now. st."

It stopped me in my tracks, thinking how did that happen...I know Swindon's an odd place but never knew they had they're own snowy micro-climate!

Easy to understand.. Swindon; cold shouldered by Reading and frosty attitude from Bristol.

It has occurred to me.

I was quietly optimistic that I'd escape it once and for all when I moved to the UK. Imagine my utter disappointment then, as a few months later I woke up one fateful winter morning to find the entire bloody place caked in the stuff. A 3+ inch thick white blanket covering the land as far as the eye could see.
