Where are you? I've just returned from Crewe and it was quite white, Holmes Chapel and Sandbach less so, but as soon as you're within 2/3 miles of Macc it's pretty wintry. If it freezes tonight there'll be some fun out there.
Holmes Chap. Had to have a spin out to Whaley Bridge and Buxton to get my fix!

Brief shower of ice on the South coast, melted the moment it hit the ground. About 1 degree and the prediction is for a clear night, so could well be an ice rink in the morning.

The SouthWest BBC weather had the polar low blatting the Thames Valley in the middle of the night, although they stressed there was uncertainty.

Also warned of possible disruptive snow on Monday in the SW

Looks like the already well-off Peak District will benefit from tonight's Polar Low. Plenty of folks will wake up to surprise snow too.

Very strong winds on the South Western side of the low - thunder too.

I believe I'm getting lucky tonight. After that it's forecast for a dry spell for a bit though, so no more of the white stuff for a while, frown

Does the white indicate snow and the grey show probable rain? I was just seeing it as cloud cover hehe

Superb! We've been here 8 years and love it. The Royal Oak is doing much better nowadays!

Fingers crossed. Someone in the NW / Northern Midlands going to get a pasting. Interestingly, that little feature has dramatically improved the weather prospects for the alps this weekend by sweeping up some of the moisture thumbup

Loads of sleet driving out of Brighton around 5pm and then a short stretch of hyperspace effect on the A27 between the Lewes roundabouts, I slowed up when the catseyes vanished under the sleet that had settled.

Nothing of note really after that and clear and chilly now - well, it is the south coast; I'm expecting the GTV door push to be frozen solid in the morning, but that's about it. Might pop some extra hay in for the rabbit and guinea pigs too, yep, it's proper winter here.

Glad my trip to Edinburgh was Mon/Tues this week however!

Out on site today (which seemed bloody chilly!) - driving home north over the Mendips there was a promisingly-increasing flurry of big flakes around 4.30pm over Shepton Mallet.

Drove rest of the way home to Bath in anticipation - and meh; remnants only of a soggy dredge of icing sugar, turned to melty-wet. Not good enough!

They are certainly excited over on NW but I've looked at the animations and can't for the life of me see what they are excited about.

Just looks like a mass of cloud what am I looking at lads?
