Cumbria/Lake District: woke up about an hour ago to a proper winter wonderland! biggrin

It's several inches deep and a really good covering on everything, roads included.

All the Schools are closed, the local kids are out playing in it, traffic is in chaos, the police look like they don't know where to start, and I've just emailed work to say I'm working from home.
My mate has just texted me suggesting we get my Kawasaki 4x4 quad bike out and tow his 4 year old boy up the fields on a sledge at 30mph.

Perfect smile

And people wonder why the participants of this thread always want snow...

Wasn't too bad in the Lakes. Drove over from Leeds (in an old 3 series), though Ambleside and over to Thirlmere without any trouble. Mind you, the top of Helvellyn was a 'bit' icy. Ironically the worst road all day was coming out of Bingley, closely followed by the A66 at Threlkeld.

Ok slightly cheating but this is Alpe d'huez at the moment. Bucket loads in the Alpes and they're expecting another 40-odd inches tomorrow! Will be there in March, hope it sticks around.

Closer to home, this looks like quite an interesting chart for Tuesday of next week, although things could definitely/probably change - this low tracks all the way down from the north, reckon it could carry quite a bit of snow for the south west and the channel islands.
I'll be driving up an Alp not far from there tomorrow lunchtime yikes

Supposed to be driving from Peterborough to Woking tonight and then back on Sunday. Will have my 21 week old baby in tow, but don't need to go if weather isn't great.

How is is looking for the weekend chaps? Thanks.

Woke up to the sound of planes for Heathrow overhead, not a good sign of snow, and sure enough it looks as if it's rained rather than snowed cry

Just outside Gothenburg, Sweden. Probably put down another inch in the last half hour and forecast is for two more days of snow. Yeehah!!

1-2 inches across most of this photo. Fiddler's ferry power station can be seen on the right to give an idea of the location.

I'm leaving for my Alp in a few hours. Doesn't look like they got anywhere near as much snow as your Alp though, so it should be alright. I've already mapped out the towns where I can buy chains as a precautionary measure though tongue out

We got three inches down in the valley and six inches up a few hundred feet her in the Peak District. It's still snowing on and off though but I don't think we will get much more.

To be honest, with the current weather setup (scattered showers), no site will be that accurate.

For example, it says 95% chance of snow - if you dig in to the NW 7 day forecast that's showers over a 1 hour period.
