The Official Winter Snow Thread 2014/2015

Here's mine from Dunley Wood just outside Effingham. About an inch of rapidly melting snow had fallen this morning.
Even on the higher ground near Holmbury St Mary it was mostly slushy stuff on the roads with maybe an inch or two so settled on the cars.
Lots of cyclists still out this morning on the hills although they did look utterly miserable

We have severe gales at the moment, and an Air Sea Rescue chopper hovering on the far side of the loch. A very bad day to be in trouble.
Dodgy pic... it's 3+ miles away.
Those pilots and crew have steel balls the size of melons. It blows my mind the weather those boys and girls go out in. Dodgy pic... it's 3+ miles away.
We had snow-ish in Kingston this morning, lasted about 15 mins around 9am. It didn't stick at all, I fear that's it for the winter

Well, the current spell is about to end and a change is on the way.
Perversely it's not the Atlantic that's going to take over but the pesky high pressure that's blighted our winter is going to park itself around the UK.
Expect a swing to cold nights and hard frosts and sunny days!
As long as the sunny days melt the still lying snow here, I will be happy. It's rubbish after a few days when it's icy under foot and a slushy mess on the roadsPerversely it's not the Atlantic that's going to take over but the pesky high pressure that's blighted our winter is going to park itself around the UK.
