We had an unexpected sprinkling in Nottingham tonight. Seemed quite light but it's left a covering.

Made the mistake of throwing a snowball at the neighbour's kid, only to find my front door was locked, so he got his revenge while I fumbled with my keys. smile

Any idea how long this cold will be lasting for?
No end in sight at the moment - the Atlantic is not due to return in the foreseeable future.

Not much chance of significant snow either...
Too cold to snow innit wink
They were saying on the radio today it was due to get down to -11, but didn't say where so probably The Orkneys. Any thoughts on that or is it just scaremongering and over exaggeration?

Hope you don't mind me asking, but do you have any formal qualifications in Weather forecasting, or is it just an interest?

I'd imagine it's quite rare round there.

Narrow band of light snow currently moving south from East of Brum.

It might disappear before reaching Thames Valley

I hoped all weekend for snow in west Wales - really wanted to get snowed in. Sadly all we had (apart from a brief snow shower) was hail. So yesterday evening I embarked upon my journey back to Bristol for work. Spoke to OH tonight and he said 'It started snowing not long after you left and carried on all night and this morning'. 2-3 inches. He's been playing in the snow with the dogs and I've been working! Not fair frown

'Tis rare yes - unfortunately the sea acts as an insulating blanket so our 'land mass' hehe never really gets cold enough for it to settle. However 2 years ago we were well and truly hammered!

Snowing in New York again. With the really cold temperatures predicted tomorrow is going to be like a skating ring. At least I should be safe taking the metro....

My friend's apartment in Bushwick, NYC, posted these during last week's storm, in just a few hours! Jealous.

I think quite a lot of those pictures might be down to slowploughed snow though - certainly looks it on the bottom right picture. Same with the one of the left, very little snow in a lot of it.
